The news is true. It's the 3rd crash in 14 years of service. These things happen even with the F22.

Good pilots safe. Bad Su 30 is lost

Pune, (IANS) A frontline Sukhoi jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near this Maharashtra town Tuesday but the pilot bailed out to safety, an officer said.

The crash of the SU-30MKI combat jet occurred around 1.30 p.m. “The pilot is safe,” the officer said, adding that there were no immediate reports of damage or casualties on the ground.

The aircraft had taken off from the Lohegaon air base on the outskirts of Pune.

This is the third crash of a Su-30 since its induction in 1997.

SAD NEWS OF WHOLE DAY................

IAF’s Sukhoi 30 MKI crashes near Pune , Both Pilot eject safely | idrw.org

Indian air force has lost another of its front-line fighter aircraft Sukhoi-30MKI today. as per news coming in a Sukhoi Su 30 MKI along with two pilots had taken off around 1.30 pm , and immediately suffered a technical malfunction and both pilots ejected safely and as per latest report both pilots are safe and no loss of life on ground has been reported .

This is third crash of Sukhoi su 30 MKI in its 10 years of service with Indian air force . in last two years IAF has lost three of its front-line fighter aircraft , First was the Russian built Sukhoi which was lost due to failure of Digital fly by wire which killed its co-pilots in that crash and another Indian HAL built was lost due to Engine fire but there was no loss of life then , but crash of Third Sukhoi su 30 mki raises lot of question why India’s New and hardly a decade old aircraft are crashing .

Indian air force is operating close to 150 Sukhoi su 30 in its fleet now and number will go upto 290 ,and will be India’s Front line fighter aircraft for India still Sukhoi built fifth generation T-50 starts its induction in Indian air force from 2017 on wards , Russian and India are close to start upgrading Sukhoi 30 from next year under Project “Super Sukhoi 30″

Indians must look at their pilot training very seriously. India seems to lose a lot of planes in peacetime

Causes of crash to be seen and learn to pilots. Flight safety is strictly followed. very early to blame or make pilots responsible.

Pune: A frontline Sukhoi jet of the Indian Air Force (IAF) crashed near Pune today but the two pilots bailed out to safety, an officer said.

"Today at around 1.15 p.m. a Sukhoi fighter jet, which took off from the Lohegaon Air Force Base for a sortie, presumably developed a technical snag and crashed," the base commander, Air Commodore V. R. Chaudhry told reporters.

"Two officers - Wing Commander Suhail, who was the pilot and Flight Lieutenant Nautiyal, who was the weapons system operator - ejected out of the aircraft after manoeuvring it over barren land," Chaudhry added.

The aircraft crashed at Wade-Bholai village, 20 kilometres from Pune.

The search for the aircraft's black box is on. The impact of the crash was such that the wreckage was strewn over a of one kilometre radius.

"While the preliminary circumstantial reason could be a technical snag, we are investigating the matter. Both the officers were highly competent. They showed great presence of mind and courage by steering the aircraft towards a safe location and thus avoiding any civilian damage," Chaudhry said.

"Both the officers have been taken to the Command Hospital in Pune," Chaudhary added.

He further said that the land belonged to the Sadhu Vaswani Mission.

The aircraft burst into flames on crashes but seven tenders were pressed into service by various agencies - military and civil - to douse the blaze.

Around 25 policemen from the Lonikhand police post that was closest to the crash site rushed to the spot after being informed by the villagers about an aircraft hurtling towards the ground.

According to the police, the villagers saw the two pilots bailing out of the aircraft and landing in an area named Hargude Vasti, half km ahead of the crash site.

This is the third crash of a Sukhoi Su-30 since its induction in 1997.

The pilots are safe! Thats the most important thing I take away from this thread.

SU 30 MKI safety record is as good as any other plane ever built. And its great to know the ejection worked well and nobody on the ground was injured.

The JF-17 had 10,000 sorties under it's belt before one crashed due to a bird strike.!!!

Did that particular JF-17 did 10,000 sorties...I don't think so.

Unlike the JF-17, SU-30 is a twin engine machine......meaning that extra bit safety. !!

By that logic Boeing 747 should never crash as it has 4 engines, but guess what it also crashed. We are talking about complex machines here, a million things can go wrong.

Did that particular JF-17 did 10,000 sorties...I don't think so.

But that particular JF-17 belong to the same clan of aircraft which did 10000 sorties.

Ah stupidity. :hitwall:

some time true reports of cause deliberately hide and not given.
