Pakistan promises high security for Bangladesh - The Times of India
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan government officials have promised intense security measures for a nine-member delegation from Bangladesh which will assess the country's ability to resume hosting international cricket.

Pakistan has not hosted a test-playing country since gunmen attacked Sri Lanka's team bus at Lahore in March 2009, killing six police officers and a van driver.

Pakistan is planning to end that isolation by hosting Bangladesh for a limited-overs tour next month, with the Bangladesh delegation visiting over two days to check on security measures.

"We will give the full force which is the requirement," interior minister Rehman Malik told Bangladesh Cricket Board president Mustafa Kamal.

how embarassing that we have to give ASSURANCES to Bangladesh team to travel to Pakistan to play a few friendlys.....

the Palestinian football team ventured out far away from home to enjoy some good sport. I think this whole security thing is usually the paranoia of death-horrified westerners who think everyone in our cities are suicide bombers

if they want to come and play, then they should come play.....if they dont want to come, or are scared -- let them stay back

Tell that to the Sri Lankans :)

Tell that to the Sri Lankans :)

we did, and in fact they have expressed interest in touring Pakistan again

deep down inside, they too know who the real perpetrators were. They also remember how the latter used to support terrorist tamils to wage war on their country. So in that sense, the Sri Lankans are even better survivors and as resilient (perhaps more) than we are. :)

Assuming that the real perpetrators where somebody else, how will that help an injured lankan cricketer.
They want security it does not matter who is trying to bomb them.

well, valuable lessons were learned so a lot of pressure would exist on the security apparatus......whereas in the past, nobody imagined that the enemy of Pakistan would STOOP so low and attack unarmed athletes who simply came to enjoy some sport with their friends.

same thing tried by Let and SIMI during IPL matches ... Terrorist are terrorist they dnt understand difference btw civilian or athlete

I don't think it's a big deal; it's unlikely that any attack on cricket players is going to happen again.

Right, but if you remember someone also shared some classified info?

actually a good number of taleban also are fans of cricket......which is ironic, because you would think that they consider sport as "haram"

we already know who was behind that last attack on the guest team, and hopefully we will find a good way (not now, but years from now) to avenge it. But it's been discussed so no need to delve in to it.

much has changed since 2008; security apparatus has been more succesful now and thwarting attacks BEFORE they happen. Risks exist, but the main cities are pretty well defended by now.

The police force's elite units would hopefully have more skills imparted on them since last incident -as times has changed

It must be over enforced by la-hasina/Al.

Although Bd may not win any game against Pakistan for obvious reason but Bd come to Pakistan mean, international cricket has return to Pakistan. It's will be useful to Pakistan than Bd.

Well BPL was dominated by Pakistani players and Shaheed Khan Afridi is beloved in BD.

it's useful for Pakistan because it puts it back in place as a foreign destination for sport.

it's useful for Bangladesh because they get valuable practice, and get to tour our cities.

i think matches can be done at safe venues like lahore.Although earlier this place was attacked but now lahore is less affected
