Yatagan Main Battle Tank
The Yatagan MBT is a further development of the Oplot MBT fitted with a NATO 120mm smoothbore gun fed by a bustle-mounted automatic loader.

The Yatagan MBT uses locally produced components and subsystems, although systems of foreign origin can be incorporated at the customer's request.

This MBT was designed in 2000. Its design features the technical solutions tested during modernisation of T-72-120 battle tank.

The Yatagan MBT was also referred to as the KERN2-120 (name of prototype) or the T-84-120.

Status

The Bangladesh Army is negotiating with Ukraine to procure a substantial number of Yatagan MBTs to enhance the capabilities of its Armoured Corps.

As far as i remember all these photos belong to the prototype which Turkey tested long time ago.
and let me tell you what does Yatagan mean :)
''Yatağan'' is a turkish word and it is used to name bowed war blades.this blade was especially used by ottoman and selcuk Turks.smaller than a battle sword but larger than a knife.the craftmanship of this blade reached its top point in 18. century.

ok ok:)i return the main subject.i still approve this tank.if we didnt have our own project,it would be a good decision for turkish army.Ukrainians offered us this tank with very good terms.we even could export them.
and here you see what kind of a monster it is:)photos and technical data describes Her better than i can do:)
by the way,is there any t-84 has been in action?

Bangladesh still does not have Yatagan tanks.

@Kansu

I knew what yatagan mean,I think that's why many mistakes it as Turkish tank.

Bangladesh does not have any T-84 Yatagan, some 200~300 tanks will be ordered after local upgrade programmes are completed.

Bangladesh Heavy Vehicles Factory has already upgraded all or most of its 310 T-69 MBTs to the T-69 Mk.II G which is comparable to the Al-Khalid and superior to the Al-Zarrar.

Also some 300 T-59s will be upgraded to Al-Zarrar at the same factory within a very short time.

as far as I know Bangladesh has about 300 tanks. But your stament on 310 T-69 MBTs and 300 T-59s adds up to 610!! And you mentioned in your 1st statement that Bangladesh would procure 200-300 yatagans!! you need to be sure about it...

BD Army has 610 MBTs and a small number of T-62 LBTs. I am sure of this.

There are 300 T-59s which will be upgraded to Al-Zarrar. We have so many as they were ordered from the late 70s to 1990. 30x T-54/55 were donated by Egypt and 50x T-54/55 were captured from Iraq, these were upgraded to T-59 standard, so these along with the T-59s directly ordered from China now creates a fleet of 300 T-59 MBTs, all 300 of which will be upgraded to Al-Zarrar.

BD Army with 310 T-69 Mk.II G is the largest operator of the T-69 MBT series. Also BD Army received an unknown number of T-79 MBTs, I do not know whether these T-79s are included in the 310x figure of the T-69s.

In 2006 the government okayed funds for purchasing the first batch of new MBTs (28x tanks) as well as funds for upgrading existing MBT fleet. It is not known whether or which MBT has been ordered. Some T-96s were rumored to have been seen but it was not true, they were actually T-69 Mk.II G mistaken for T-96s.

Of the T-62 LBT fleet only a small number remain in service, the rest have been locally upgraded to the T-62 SPG.

I have said 200~300 T-84 Yatagan as it is the most likely candidate and there is need for that amount of tanks.

thanks for your information. really appreciate it.:)

Have you tried comparing "Specifications" of the Al-khalid with a Bangali modified T-69? If you haven't, please give it a shot. The new upgrade of the T-69 isn't "Comparable" to Al-khalid in any way.

There's already a thread for that discussion. You might want to look through there before putting forward false claims.

Well I have already given my replies for the comparison between the Al-Khalid MBT (Pakistan Army) and the T-69 Mk.II G MBT (Bangladesh Army).

I still stand by my words that the T-69 Mk.II G is comparable to the Al-Khalid. It was not ‘false claim’ as claimed by you.

It turns out that your comparison was done most wrongly; I found it to be completely incorrect, misleading and inaccurate and done with very little or no research and no demonstration of expertise at all.

First of all, I never said that I made a comparison. If you would've known the basics of comprehension, you'd know what "Might want to look through" means. That means, read and try to understand what the other members have been discussing about.

Secondly, Your opinion is your opinion. By that standards, A T-34 is more advanced and "Comparable" to an M1A1. I read your comparison and that doesn't exactly prove that it's completely comparable to the AK. I gave a general opinion from my side about how an old T-69 Medium weight tank upgrade Isn't comparable to a modern heavy MBT. Just like how ANY T-72 upgrade can't be comparable to Heavy MBT's like the M1A1, Leopard, Challengers, AK etc. Applying logic is the best solution in this case which you've failed to do so.

I previously said we need ATGMs..and Berzerk told us to form brigades of ATGM:lol: in the Type-69 thread.
We should take it seriously;)
BTW we use Bakhtar Shikhan ATGM from Pakistan, are there any plans to acquire more of it?

The whole world is in fact moving away from tank to anti-tank, you have to admit that. The latest M1A2 Abrams and Leopard-2 series MBTs are the best MBTs and are superior to AK, yet 85+ M1s were destroyed by RPG fire alone, so imgine what the latest ATGMs can do to MBTs.

I think you might want to check up on those numbers, M1's are very tough to kill and most of those taken out so far have been done by IED's. You may be thinking of the number of damaged tanks.
You say about RPG's against tanks, one Challenger 2 survived 8 direct RPG hits and one from a MILAN, it threw a track (not from the hostile fire) and had its sighting systems damaged, apart from that it was fine. Another took 70 direct RPG hits and did not take damage. Hardly very vulnerable to RPG's, these incidents were in very thick urban terrain as well, where tanks are most vulnerable. It does however beg the question of what the hell the infantry support was doing while some hostiles found the time to throw 70 RPG's at the tank.
