Sleeping on roof in summer

@DRaisinHerald

Mosquitoes, cockroaches, you haven't seen them in Pakistan?

pakistan has mosquitoes(tons of them), flies(tons of them) plus bugs plus occasional snakes and scorpions too

welcome to karachi

What are talking about?. We were not talking about such insects which are everywhere, but rather about deadly ones.

Plenty  But they're not deadly. Things like poisonous snakes, insects, or creatures such as scorpions never.

Besides, I don't think snakes or scorpions can reach the roof on their own..... :coffee:

Hmm this is a good idea. Too often I get out of bed way too late in the Holidays due to sheer laziness but by sleeping on the roof I'd probably be more inclined to wake up at 7am and go straight to the bathroom.

Will try this next time I visit Pakistan. :coffee:

How many of you seen those seven stars ? and milky way ? i mean i didn't saw those seven stars in Malaysia. What about india and other parts ?

I did it many times. :)

Such a beautiful place!! You are lucky guys, but aren't you afraid of harmful insects? such as spiders or scorpions?

First we were afraid.

But now they are afraid because we kill them whenever we see them.

I don't think I ever heard of a scorpion in Pakistan; they might exist but are not widespread all around the country. Spider's are not a big problem either TBH, at least I personally never had a problem with them.

I spend at least half my nights of the 2 months I usually spend in Pakistan sleeping on the roof. The fresh breeze, the open sky..it's all too good to sleep inside the house, loadshedding or no loadshedding :)

You have an odd way of thinking

If anything, it's them eating me or something..although I've grown out of all that alien stuff..

Haha you haven't been to cholistan. I got stung my a scorpion while digging an irrigation canal.

There is no better sleep than sleeping on the roof provided there are no mosquitos. Spent a'lot of summers sleeping atop of my house , stared at stars with 'Doorbeen'. I just loved the tranquality , you could hear birds and bugs making cute high pitched noises.

When you wake up , there would be dew drops on the quil , the morning can't get any better.

How many of you have enjoyed Sleeping on the roof of yr house. And how it feels like ?

Also happened to me once. I woke up and it was towards the entrance of my dera. It was dark so I couldn't find a stick. Just hopped on my 125 and crushed him with the tires.

Sleeping outside in the summers is someting one did all through childhood. It was incomprehensible to sleep indoors between Holi ( March) and Diwali ( Oct). We only sleepily dragged our charpoys into the verandah when it rained.

The simple pleasures of watering the driveway / lawn and placing ' Surahis' with a Copper / steel glass over it, fighting for a bed close to the table fan, hearing the quawalis from the Dargah of Nizamuddin which was quite a distance away but sounds carried once the night noises died down, placing your rubber slippers under the matress so the dogs didnt take them away, listening to the transistor at low volume , discussing stars and watching a satellite / jet travel across the sky and imagining what ' it must be like.."- arguing with siblings till one was scolded by elders.., drinking the most refreshing water from the earthen pot in the morning..all these seem so far away.

Thank you Pukhtoon for starting a thread that bought back so many memories..

Sadly I do not see people sleeping outdoors in villages too in large numbers.
