One last question, I know this is new years and I dont want to take your time but can you explain what the other posters are talking about. Why is karachiite(not calling you out) talking about "Muhajir" as being creators of Pakistan, I thought muslim league created pakistan and also is there ethnic tension in the coastal city of karachi because its being mentioned couple of times. While i am not in contacted with my extended family, I am curious because my grandpapa says that the family resides in a area called "kant", is that a safe area in your opinion, even though they are extended i feel worried about their safety by the way some posters are talking about. Once again thanks for answering and sorry for bringing up such a painful topic, over 1 million dead people in partition may god bless their souls in heaven.

Opinions can be different and in my opinion,ethnic tensions in Karachi are similar and on around the same level as the tension between Blacks and whites in North America.

By creators I meant the fact that majority of the founding fathers were Muhajirs and millions of Muhajirs sacrificed their lives to create Pakistan. Also it was Muhajirs who brought their wealth, education and talents to Pakistan which deeply helped Pakistan during its infancy. The user I replied to was clearly insulting Muhajirs and calling them vile names.
Your family lives in a Cantt which are fairly safe. Karachi is a multi
ethnic city and ethnic tension has existed since decades now. It has calmed down now but there was a time where it was total chaos.

Pictures of SWAT taken by yours truly, sorry they are crap quality. Was actually supposed to be working and not sight seeing. :P

Painda , traditional food of Marwats

2318d1351012072-pashtun-cuisine-penda.jpg

It is food indigenous to lakki marwat, also very popular in Bannu, waziristan and DI khan. The word "Penda" is derived from the Pashto word Panda which literally means 'a lot'. True to its name, Penda is prepared in big quantities and many people sit together to eat it. It is for this reason that it is served in large dishes (called Thal). There are no formalities involved, therefore everybody eats from the same Thal while sitting around it in circles.

It is seldom prepared by the household for itself, in fact its generally prepared and served for guests, at weddings, or other such important occasions. In villages, men get together every night in somebody's betak or hujra. A few of them are appointed the task of preparing the sohbat. If it is time to eat, this Sohbat is usually Penda but if people have eaten already, then it is something sweet to go after the food; usually halwa (locally known as Rosha). These men prepare the Sohbat under the watchful eyes of everybody else. It is also said that the Prophet PBUH's favorite dish was called sureed which is made in the same way as Penda.

The main ingredients are desi-chicken and a specially made bread called Paasti. The term Paasti again comes from the Pashto word Pasta (soft). The traditional Paasti are extremely thin like paper and very big in diameter (around half a meter). Nowadays we have the facility of large Teghna that are big enough for preparing such large breads. But in yester-years, Paasti's would be prepared on empty Charcoal barrels (known locally as Batt) that would be cut in half. Whatever the method, preparing these delicate Paasti requires experience and great care.
Recipe

Utensils

* Thal (large circular tray deep enough to hold all the ingredients once prepared)
* Large Tabakhay (If preparing the Pastis on your own)
* Large Pot (for preparing Shorwa)

Ingredients

* Cooking Oil
* Onions
* Garlic (Chopped)
* Tomatoes (Chopped)
* Potatoes (Cut in Half)
* Desi chicken
* Flour for paasti
* Salt
* Bannu masala (a special masala prepared in bannu, if not available, use a mix of national's qorma and curry masala)
* Coriander leaves (for chutney)
* Green chillies (for chutney)
* Yogurt (for chutney)
* Lemon (for chutney)

Procedure

1. Pasti
Knead some flour as normally done for chapati's. Don't forget to add a little salt to taste. The dough should be soft, and able to stretch easily in hands. Prepare thin chapati's in whichever size you can manage. Use your hand to break the pasti into pieces. The pieces should be at least half the size of your palm.
2. Chutney
Use the ingredients for chutney in whatever way is suitable for you
3. Shorwa
1. Fry the Onions in the Cooking Oil along with Chopped Garlic until they are light brown.
2. Add the chicken pieces, chopped tomatoes, combination of masalas, salt, and potatoes and keep on heating on medium flame until you are certain the chicken and potatoes are cooked properly.
3. Remove the prepared chicken and potatoes to a separate dish and keep warm
4. The remaining shorwa would now be 'thinned', so it can be absorbed easily by the pasti. Add water to what's left behind. As a general note if there is half a litre of shorwa, add enough water to make it 1 litre.
5. Keep on cooking the broth till the layer of oil is evident on the surface
6. Prepare a little tarhka of onions on the side and add it to the broth when ready
4. Finishing
Place the pasti in the thaal and level them. Gradually pour the shorwa over the pasti in such a manner that the base is filled. Use a large spoon to lift the pasti to make sure the shorwa flows through to the base. Finish with placing the chicken and potatoes at the center of the thaal.
5. Put the Chicken Pieces and Potatoes on the middle of the Penda Thaal.

Yar what does naswar corner means? Creating thread on ethnic stereotyping is so wrong and you are equating pashtuns with naswar-khors. Any way naswar corner thread is not about pashtuns, it is just a gupshup thread of hyperion and his friends.
And you should be sorry for saying that writing any thing about pashtuns would bring division of pakistan. People like you alienate bengalis from pakistan because you were discouraging their langauge, culture and identity. You are indirectly telling me that "pashtuniyat" has not place in pakistan and that afghanistan is for that. @haviZsultan you should read what he is saying.
This is a informative thread, read it for information, but if you still feel left out, then go check other threads. And by the way this whole forum is pakistan corner...

Well without Balochistan,Pakistan is colourless:smitten:

This thread deserves a sticky and help from @Armstrong's mod contacts to keep MQM trolls OUT! They are a disgrace to every family that moved from that region. There is nothing such as muhajir... we were supposed to integrate in the various communities. Death to ethnic tension, racism and bigotry. @American Pakistani if you want to do something stop this troll @darkinsky... he is just insulting other ethnic groups. His butt will hurt when someone tells him to look within.

Glad to see luffy sharing useful information rather than banging the drums of Afghanistan. Very impressed wror.

Ahmed Shah Abdali lion of Pashtunkhwa (Pakistan)-this is Pashtun history-of all races in Pakistan Pashtuns have the greatest history... take that with a pinch of salt as this Pashtun wasn't always a Pashtun particularly 9/10 of his life. ;) It is simply a fact-but in either case that isn't what we should teach our kids-we should teach them that all our history is great so we don't produce bigots like @darkinsky deleting posts to survive:

Ahmad Shah Durrani - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I can't post the whole thing but have posted the wikipedia link-no offense to @Babbarkhalsa or something bro... i do not support his attacks on sikhs and golden temple... just his conquests are a source of pride for pakistani pashtuns. He was born in Multan (Pakistan)... share something on ranjit singh (Its Pakistani Sikh history). You support Babbar khalsa?

I am stuck with a horrible computer but i will reply to @Karachiite on this thread and @Secur on the other. I haven't forgotten. Just a short one and after that we can stop the tradition of replying to each others posts, we agree anyway so no real debate taking place-just reinforcing each others views. @darkinsky has no knowledge of Pashtuns. He is a bigot... by the next 100 years only bigots will be the ones calling themselves muhajirs and voting for MQM. Rest will integrate in their efforts to merge as Pakistanis only. @Karachiite after that post defending Altaf's speech i cannot respect u as a member and this was the primary reason i quit muhajir race.

Will post something about my ansari ancestors too. I thinks its an over-focus on pashtun heroes... no issue with that-its OUR history but so are the talpurs and mir chakar. Will post some of that too. :)

This is a great way to win respect luffy. I hope when you go to pashtunforums again we will see a new attitude in you.

Well , thanks for your post. I dont support Babbar-khalsa . Our guru GobindSinghji called us "BABBAR" which means lion and "KHALSA" means sikh . I am a sikh and thus a Babbar-khalsa.

Maharaja RanjitSingh was a sikh ruler whose empire included the whole of Punjab ,Kashmir, some parts of Sindh in south and khyber-pakhtuntwa in the west.

You are talking about other members but the way you were/are talking about Muhajirs & MQM is very good? Kindly read your previous posts. Muhajirs are criticized everywhere this is reality so if some Muhajirs repeating the same on other ethnics, it should also be taken as joke & not seriously.

I will request you not to take any one seriously. They maybe racist here but i know their hearts are not what you are reading in their posts. And yes No to racism.

Punjabi and sindhi were surely small "regional identities" but we pashtuns were ruling people of india, khorasan and iran.....follow this thread regularly and i will tell you how exactly we have ruled over your ancestors......

So what if Pakistan is multicultural, multi-ethnic, multi-linguistic?.... there is some thing called "co-existence".....The current Pakistan is functioning because it is not directly messing with regional cultural identities, it would break apart very easily if any measures are taken to suppress or eradicate ethnic cultural identities....we saw a strong reaction from your hazarewal community just on renaming issue, imagine how an entire ethnicity would respond when it feels that their identity is in danger....you cant de-arabize an arab, you cant de-iranize an iranian , similarly you cant de-pashtunize a pashtun......
Now you show your true colours, thank god I'm not pure of any ethnicity, now I can be proud to be Pakistani

What will be we without pakistan? dude we are not in some paradise, our pashtun areas are struck by poverty and wars even in pakistan....we were freedom fighters before 1947, now in Pakistan we are religious extremists and talibans.....tribal clashes still takes place even when we are in pakistan and our FATA is lawless and in stone age as it was in british times.....We thought that now we can avail economic opportunities any where in Pakistan , when we went to karachi, we faced racism , hate and our bori-bund bodies started appearing on streets of karachi......

Ooooooo playing victim now are we, my lord?
