What's new

Army in field now

I actually had to do a country study on bangladaise in grade 9 so I got a chance to ask gramps about the event so I have a basic understanding of it and understand the underlying sensitivity due crimes against humanity that occured but please do consider that this period is a shame to our heritage and hopefully after this, ties can be mended through reconciliation. I know it will be tough to get past the events but I mean look at the violence and stupid rightwing fringe group just creating more hatred then going to court and actually Not acting out muslim virtues rather slendering our the faith of peace.

We are ready to move past that. But not when known war criminals are still walking on around in our country and some pakistanis are showing support for them saying 'forget the past'.

Also, don't fall for the false rhetoric of idune.

Jamat have done the following in last few days-

1. Killed men, women and children.
2. Killed Hindus
3. Set fire on Masjid and Mandirs
4. Killed policemen

Also,

1. Jamat-Shibir men have burned the houses of 48 hindu families in just one village. Those people are roofless right now.
2. They have set fire on a train.
3. Hacked policemen into death
4. Using bazooka-like DIY projectile weapon.
5. Locked 18/19 policemen inside the station and set fire on the building. Later the policemen were rescued by other policemen who were stationed outside.

@ And now, your Bangali President is comming today and opposition has called for 3 days "Hartal". What a shame !!! He should have cancelled the visit.

@ "Bap ka beti ".

@ A big slap on the face of Mukherji. " Ar somoy pailo nai !!!".

Hartal to save the war-criminals. India shouldn't have given a s*** and they didn't.

I am mixed on this developero, on one hand I see your view point that media has slight goverment leaning and is not properly covering the issue with respect to discrepancy as far as tribunal is concern. However I kind of feel guilty as members of my extended familie overseas(never personally met them so don't judge) did serve during that period and I think let bangladaise do the trials and bury the hachet so we can forget the tragedy. This is one of the dark parts of our pakistani heritage and hopefully after this tribunal pakistani and bangladaise can be brothers again.!!!

We wanna move forward too.

bad times for bangladesh.
i heard that they even burnt the bangladeshi flag???why?? @BDforever @ShadowFaux

this was something beyond my thinking.

hope this violence ends soon.

The news is true. Jamat-Shibir just don't like the flag of Bangladesh. It shouldn't come as surprising as they had opposed the Idea of Bangladesh.

Looks like the AL online cadre brigade in PDF and their Indian cheerleaders are nervous. Lets see what Army does now. If Army goes against the people and take India's side, the people of Bangladesh will have to fight a 2nd "independence war", the real one, to free ourselves of Indian occupation by proxy.

Army will not be involved, that will be cutting BAL's own throat. No army kills own people...if that somehow happens, that won't continue for long. Any time they'll point the gun at govt. from their repentance for killing people. It happened in Egypt not long ago, one after one loyal army officers were joining the people at Tahrir Square.

Besides, there are other developments inside army, BAL feels well. One interesting thing is I just watched a bit ago that one biased channel SATV was saying local people not Jamat-Shibir terrorists blocked a road in a rural area in Bogra or Rajshahi. Until now all these hypocrite mouthpieces were shamelessly calling people as Jamat-Shibir terrorists.

Must be hard for you after all the answers you got. People here are bunch of confused conspiracy theorists.
Anyway let me tell you about the situation. The war crime tribunal isn't fair and doesn't live upto the International standard, for which, the UN voiced its concern. Now the people who are on the side of fair tribunal/anti-corruption/caretaker government, are protesting for it. You can clearly see how the police is firing mercilessly at anyone, not over 100 killed. Now what else choice does the people have? The media on the other hand has been shamelessly displaying great propaganda news, daily star is very biased fyi. Now, when people here protest for Government, they get served Biryani, cold water and protection but when others do against it, they get served with bullets, infact police shot inside the national mosque. Now you should have a clear view of the situation, so feel free to take your side. If you ask me which one i am on? then i would say the protesting ones. I don't want my countrymen to be oppressed. The government is forcing the people to be divided.

So, they want pakistan flags to fly there??
These people have no sense, even after 41 years, they are against the existencw of Bangladesh. Strange.

@liontk

In my opinion, @animelive is very neutral. But I do not agree with his opinions here.

1. Yes, the tribunal is not fair. Govt made a weak case for one Kader Molla in order to make a back door deal with Jamat. Then the Shahbag protest happened.

2. But the convicted were indeed involved in mass-genocide and gang-rape. (Story of their horrible crimes were passed down through the generations by the survivors of 1971) Some of them are even self-proclaimed.

2. When a criminal got the punishment he deserved, the anti-state elements started their misadventures again. Like 1971, they are still putting the blame on Hindus, India, RAW. They are killing people; women and children included. They are setting Masjid and Mandirs on fire. They are setting fire on buses, trains; They are killing law-enforcement personnel. They are spreading false propaganda etc etc.

3. It is jamat who are commiting genocide and trying to put the blame on govt. Some of them are killed when they are trying to kill policemen. Let me tell you, these criminals are fanatics. Their are brainwashed like the suicide-bombers. So they have no problem to die in order to stop the judicial process.

you do not have any proof about the back door deal, so i guess its better to spare them off as rumours
Next, if you read the report of a witness in Kader Mollah trial, he actually happened to file a case in police station about war criminals but no where was kader mollah mentioned. But in the trial, he was taking the name of kader mollah over and over again.
People are protesting against oppression, nothing else although vandalism is not the way, they hardly have any paths left, watch the bbc thread made by @aazidane and see the video for a clear view.

Not all of them are Jamat, Jamat doesn't have that much support.

But yes, the middle class people are mostly suffering for this turmoil. I blame the Political parties for politicizing anything and everything

Kader Mollah's attorneys failed to prove him innocent. Still the court didn't give a death sentence. Proves a back-door deal.

I am happy with the present verdict of the court anyway because right now I only care about the death penalty of the war criminals. If you are unhappy about the court's decision, and have proof, please follow legal procedure.

Prosecutors failed to prove him guilty according to law too

UN is not, the court is biased and doesn't follow international standards, how can someone re-appeal?

Sorry, I meant appeal against the verdict.

UN is not happy doesn't necessarily mean that Kader Mollah wasn't guilty. Anyway, Govt has appealed against the verdict on Kader Mollah case. I expect that your doubts will be cleared soon.

For now, lets agree to disagree.

you don't need to prove someone innocent, all you have to do is show reasonable doubt.

No one is claiming that kader mollah is innocent but the trial isn't. When you punish someone with a lame trial, even the correct decision will become wrong.
