Dancing in presence of PM Gillani

Well heads of state are not supposed to behave in this manner they have social and moral responsibility especially when the country is looking up to them in their times of need, would you approve the same if some Indian politician is shown on national news with these kind of images.

Let us get this straightened up. In Mumbai, there is an annual program arranged by Mumbai police to honor the performance of various police personnel. The Chief Ministers, Governors attend the function, where all kinds of 'lewd' & 'vulgar' dancing is performed by female actresses. Do you have problems with that as well? How does it prove that if a head of a government organization attends a dance function, they are incapable of doing their duties? Why can it not be seen as mere entertainment?

And again I am asking the same question. Would it have been all rosy if there were no female dancers? Mostly, it would have been. So why the heck anyone should have a problem with any female dancer as long as the dancer stays civil?

peaceful india the problem is when PAKISTANIS oppose anything indians think it has to have religious quotations!!!

see we are opposing DANCING infront of the president...we are at war & these leaders are being entertained with dances...its like NERO played the piper while ROME burnt....(don't remember the name of the instrument he was playing)

so yes this has NOTHING to do with religion.....now if in the INDIAN parliament they organize a dance what would the INDIAN public say....

stop looking for RELIGION in everything coming out from the mouth of a pakistani!!!

Nero was playing his fiddle.

And no, my references were not specific to any religion. Read my post above where I replied to Mig-29. This whole thread was started with the intention of denouncing the act of arranging a female dancer in front of Gilani. No one is making any comments about the male dancer. So why be prejudiced?

I think they were just saying when the country is in a state of war and millions rendered homeless why the PM is not abstaining from such public celebrations, at least the majority are saying that. And yes the OP and a couple of others might have attempted to inject religion in to this.

Have you read the title of the thread & what the original poster wrote?

Disgrace: Female Dancing in presence of PM Gillani

My whole argument is centered around the prejudiced attitude towards females. If millions of homeless refugees & expenses are the issues, the male dancer should be denounced as well. And that is not happening.

Peaceful

It's like this - Beacuse an Islamist insurgency is being countered, everybody should be in mourning, there should be matam and Azadari

And lets face the truth, these people, and you know who they are, are more comfortable with men, and not just dancing men, (wink wink) and of course there is also the disguise, the excuse, It's Islam this or Islam that, but whatever it is, it is always mysogynistic - you take from that what you will -- and of course there is no culture other than that of a religious nature - and you can take of that what you will.

Dancing bad, singing bad, joy bad, happiness bad and beauty? well depends are we talking men or women.

I dont people would be happy if it was male dancers dancing for a female PM or vice versa.

Well, IMHO there is nothing wrong with this if Pakistan was not in war but this is extremely wrong when you have millions of people displaced. These people are enjoying dance while on the other hand people are sitting in camps. This is just disgusting.

No more bickering please.

I'm sure all of us here have beautiful and talented mothers and sisters. Whats important is that we all respect women, and in regards to the rules of this forum, respect each other. No one is impressed with this personal talk.

So back to the topic. Which relates to the actions and wishes of the PM, not Mr Muse or Mr dabong1.

Thanks.

Anyone who asks if its ok for our sisters to dance is assuming that that dancing girl does not have brothers / father or even worse, that girl can not think / decide for herself.

And before they start with 'may be the girl does not really wanna do it', well they should come here to Dubai where thousands of these Indian / Pakistani workers are working in 45C and 100 humidity and reducing their life span every single day, well they also do not want to do it, but we are all trying to do the best of our circumstances.

What's the big deal? Is dancing evil? Is frivolity and joy also "unIslamic"? If they are, why the heck are we are war with Islamists in the mountains of Waziristan when so many seem to hold attitudes such as those held by the Ignorant islamist insurgency
Its fickle, but you can perhaps argue that the PM didn't want to see it, but the dance was thrown in front of him. There is a commandment in his religion that instructs him to lower his gaze and he would like to be viewed as a pious man that hugs onto that commandment day and night.

So more importantly if he cares about his vote bank he will need to be careful and take majority point of view along with him. There have been quite a few mujray-baaz leaders in our history. You really need to be careful with which group you get associated with.

Public opinion can be tricky.

Sure public opinion is a factor - however; the thread was been presented as national disgrace with call sfor his ouster and of course the islamist 5th column chose to add it's own unique take on events.

Dance is part of Pakistani culture, now I realize it's not Saudi culture, though Saudi will dispute this, cuz they are some dancing fools among themselves - but the hysterical reaction to the dance is a bit over the top, in my opinion.

Sooner or later we will grow up and not find in a dance the kinds of consequences we do now - but every joujrney begins with the t first step, eh?

Spudozer

Please move to Waziristan or better still Arabia , leave Pakistan to us Muslims, we have no problem with women, we have no problem with having fun and expressing joy -have a nice stay.

and lighten up:pakistan:
You have already moved to UK, is it not enough? Mujra is haram, period. don't try to re-invent Islam.

Any 'outrage' at such events is indicative of extremist and intolerable attitudes that have permeated sections of society.

The Talibanisation of thought has long been underway.

Howeve, the provocation of conservative morality, like dancers baring their chests, and such like, are not Pakistani culture, liberal or not.

Openness should not mean vulgarity, freedom must not lead to abuse.

Some of the talibanisation has been a backlash from some to the depictions of extreme liberal ideas and images in the media, which has acted as if it is freer than in Europe. Some programmes that I see on Pakistani cable TV, I would not be able to watch on British TV. The concept of the watershed timetable has not touched Pakistan.
