Sri Lankan monk sets himself ablaze over cow slaughter

Buddha ate beef. So did ancient Hindus.

Depends on what scripture you follow:

According to the story of the Nirvana Sutra, a Mahayana Buddhist scripture purporting to give the Buddha's final teachings, the Buddha insisted that his followers should not eat any kind of meat or fish, even those not included in the 10 types, and that even vegetarian food that has been touched by meat should be washed before being eaten. Also, it is not permissible for the monk or nun just to pick out the non-meat portions of a diet and leave the rest: the whole meal must be rejected.[7]

Chapter 7 of the Nirvana Sutra (translated by Kosho Yamamoto and edited by Dr. Tony Page) states:

One who eats meat kills the seed of great compassion... O Kasyapa! I, from now on, tell my disciples to refrain from eating any kind of meat. O Kasyapa! When one eats meat, this gives out the smell of meat while one is walking, standing, sitting or reclining. People smell this and become fearful. This is as when one comes near a lion. One sees and smells the lion, and fear arises. O good man! When one eats garlic, the dirty smell is unbearable. Other people notice it. They smell the bad smell. They leave that person and go away. Even from far off, people hate to see such a person. They will not come near him. It is the same with one who eats meat. It is a similar situation with all people who, on smelling the meat, become afraid and entertain the thought of death. All living things in the water, on land and in the sky desert such a person and run away. They say that this person is their enemy. Hence the Bodhisattva does not eat meat.

Many Hindus are accused in Rape case, Murder case ... Does it mean all Hindus are Nave Retards ...

Tell me how many of the Hindus here in Kerala do not eat beef?? It is widely consumed here in Kerala..

not much sure about that...

Tell me the reason.. Just because we are from other religion, our royalty lies with other country?? You only know Hinduism as a religion.. I know Hinduism as a culture which is strong in my mind.. Guess the books you read and people you listen to skipped to mention that..

It's not a strictly codified religion. All this anti-beef nonsense has been propagated and popularized in the recent years by RSS retards.

I am talking about Buddhism. They are not anti-beef, but anti-killing in general (depending on scriptures).

Hinduism is more of a culture, than a religion...
So you are right!

A buddist will not kill for fun but killing for food or self-preservation is not a problem.
Only jains follow extreme non-violence to animals position. Not hindus or buddists.

Actually you are quite wrong.......Pigs, dogs all kinds of animals roam around mosques and their premises all the time(well true for Isb)............Your analogy here reeks of ignorance....We as muslims have a concept of 'Najasut' even if our body comes in contact with our own blood the body gets 'Najus' same goes for all kinds of bodily secreations and we cannot offer prayers when "Najus"...we dont consume pork, thats a different matter, I dont recall ever eating beef in my entire life. So yes, if a dog or a pig enters the premises of a mosque it will be escorted out, but will definitely not lead to any thing drastic. However if someone is spreading Najasut like that of a dead animals blood on purpose then this has ethical, moral, biological implications, what to speak of religious factors.

What if a person deliberately puts a pig inside a Mosque. Will he be spared?

3 people were killed in India over this, over an animal.

Mleccha
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For the dynasty of Kamarupa, see Mlechchha dynasty.
Mleccha (from Vedic Sanskrit म्लेच्छ mleccha, meaning "non-Vedic", "barbarian"), also spelt as Mlechchha, referred to people of foreign extraction in ancient India. Mleccha was used by the ancient Indians as much as the ancient Greeks used barbaros, originally to indicate the uncouth and incomprehensible speech of foreigners and then extended to their unfamiliar behaviour.[1][2]

Look hero According to Hinduism ... a Hindu should Protect a Cow ... Cow is sacred for us... thats the reason we use Gau Mutram in every religious ceremony ... most of my relatives dont eat beef ... & those who eat dont revel it ...

Like i said there are many Muslims who Drink & eat Pork ... does that mean Drinking is allowed in Islam ???

Well its always Questionable ... for a Hindu his Mother Land is bigger then his Family ...

They threw in a dead pigs head, which means Najasut spread all over they would have to clean the place and also all those people who came in contact with it became Najus. But as I mentioned in previous post, this has implications exceeding the religious factors. Would you approve of some random hooligans pelting your house with dead rats? Nope you wouldnt and nobody would. What if they are infected? Would you like to get sprayed by an Aids infected blood? No na.... then dont treat others they way you dont want to be treated. As for cow its an animal, people drink its milk and eat its meat world over.....So killing yourself over this is pretty absurd.

I told you I am not talking about your religion.. I do know about the religious sentiments too.. BUt I do know and have Hindu friends who eat beef. Lot of people here in Kerala eat meat too..

And not only for Hindu, Mother & MotherLand is Bigger than the Unseen Heaven.. A Mlechha (Whatever it is) like me also consider my mother and motherland to be sacred than anything... I dont have to be born in a Dharmic religion to understand that..

Relax bro some people have very strong religious believes maybe he is just one of them.

Its one of the few things which r very sacred to Hindus.

Besides if u r a Hindu by birth doesn't mean ur a practicing Hindu. So whatever ur frnds do in Kerela doesn't mean its acceptable by people at large.

N nobody(not even Hindus) uses the word Melechha except for FaujHistorian i guess:P

Besides South Indians were never called Melechha it was just a term used in Bhavishya Purana to denote people residing west of Saraswati River basically who didn't belong to Aryawata(India) n were uncivilized people.

So if u consider urself uncivilized u may call urself a Melechha...

I trust animals more than i trust humans ..... This forum is filled with insensitive fucks , if someone worships cow, so let it be..why does Indian members especially have to mouth off about it.... Even i give great respect to the cow and am heavily against killing it.......

I believe this monk was suffering from some mental issues.

Too bad his cry for help was not heard.
