Sri Lankan monk sets himself ablaze over cow slaughter

There are many Hindus who do not follow Vedas and are ignorant of them. So mate - I respect your view and you can avoid eating cows - that is your prerogative but respect mine as well is what I am implying.

I am not getting you... what are you trying to say here... I say avoid eating cow... what do you say in one line please.

As far as my research goes buddhists of only srilanka stay away from beef as they were hindus before converting to buddhism.

BS. This statement is an outright lie. No can be certain that Pre-Buddhist people of SL were Hindus.

What made you think they are? or are you only considering Vijeya and his companions?

There more then 500 Gau Shala Running all over Kerala...

& Most Nair House hold Keep Cow shed called Erritihil ... It was Mandatory in olden days in Kerala to have a Errithil in all most all Hindu Houses... Still many Rich people keep Cows as a Symbol of Pride in Kerala...

Its Buffalo ... infact Most Beef served in Kerala are of Buffalo...

Errithil is the shelter of cow.............We still have one with our Traditional house (arra & neera)............

I don't agree with the bolded part as beef is readily available in all parts of Kerala including Pandalam..........And beef is costlier than Chicken .................

Ya Errithil is a Part of Hindu Culture so that every house can Serve the Mother... after that it became a part of Malayalee Culture ... Even many Christian Families Adopted it ... while other Christian Converts still followed the long tradition to keep a House hold cow although not for religious purpose...

Until my Grand Father was alive he never left the House in morning unless Cow is tied at the house entrance ... he first fed the Cow with Grass then took her blessings, after only went outside the house ...

i'll tell u again ... not even most Christians Kill Cow in Kerala... the most Beef are from Buffalo in Malayalam pothe erachi ... & some from Kaala ( Bull)...

but if some Hotel is caught serving Cow beef in Pandalam it would be a serious issue... most hotel sell it in the name of Buffalo Beef...

I asked u for link for ur claim since ur a Sri Lankan u should be able to support ur claim with respect to ur country.

Leave Vijeya n other empires for second i'll ask u a simple question before the advent of Buddhism what major religion would u believe was prominent in SL as Islam was no where around n Hinduism ur not ready to accept...:)

Again the question is the same do u have a link for ur claim as being a SL citizen its ur moral duty to clear the doubts about ur country.:azn:

If u really respect cow , then u should not tie the poor creature down for its entire life . You should not pierce its nose to put "mookukayar".
You should not take milk from the creature as the milk is intented for its calf .

IMO that monk has some serious mental issues .. he needs help ..
