O really than Pakistan should be way above Brazil Man

thr economy is 9 times larger then ur. They hv small population. Firepower website also take account how long and how well u can sustain a war. Don't live in gaga land.

@ManUNITEDglory

Its hard to gauge a nation's real firepower potential without taking into account the type of combat that firepower is going to be utilized in. Modern day warfare is becoming more and more complex with counter insurgency operations becoming very common. Pakistan's special forces are very well trained and battle hardened, all the way from the days of Afghan Soviet war.

On the conventional side of the equation, where we talk about Pakistan vs India scenario, Pakistan Army is the 6th largest standing Army in the world and is one of the most highly trained, however because of the low budget it cannot arm its soldier as much as other nations with a higher budget do.Remember its not all about giving an assault weapon, a side arm, a knife , a ballistic vest and helmet gear to the soldier. In today's warfare, you need secure data link, observation and communication satellites, electronic warfare capability and other means of gathering situational awareness which affects the outcome of any combat scene.

Pakistan Army scores high in strength, stand off firepower, organization and professionalism, combat experience. It scores low in high tech situational awareness capability as well as in firepower/individual soldier as well as in the area of overall resources needed to conduct a war. This should explain why world's 6th largest Army scores 12th in firepower rankings. [Of course this doesn't include the Nuclear aspect]

The list your mate was refering to was from the Global Firepower Index 2013.

Global Firepower Index 2013

I hope, this answers your question.

this is nonsense --
in terms of capability israel is number 2 after the usa.. it is only much lower in the global balance of pwer because of its small size...it is a nuclear power and can take on all opponents within the region and end up much ahead....with the submarine nuclear capability ot now even ahs global reach....

pakistan in a poor third world power way down in capability witness---
the attcak on GHQ
the destruction of its AWACS and MR aircraft--its senior commander did not have even the capability to detail a platoon size close in defense group for each for these aircraft on duty 24/7----
they needed the us to provide night vision goggles etc to the paramilitary which were counted and restocked after each field operation --talk about humiliation..they need trainers from foreign countries to ehlp them fight [in contrast in the zia period they only accepted equiment and technology---trainign and operational planning was indigenous with some advise from others probabilay because of theri better techncial inteligence]
its civil and military leadership does not have the capability, character and courage to take to task declared traitors and corrupt govt servant [civil and military]
its generals [and admirals and airmarshals] have historically always failed witness the debacles in 48, 56, 65, 71, 77,99 ans 01-13. the present general leaderhsip especially useless...witness the repeated attacks and loss of life in the field... only the courage, bravery and self sacrifice of junior officers upto majors and some colonels hold the country together.....

They don't have small population by any accounts..Brazil is one of the most population nation of world...

Japanese economy is way larger than Korean, Indonesian, Israeli, Iranian, or even Indian one..why are they ranked so below?

Pakistan can sustain a war for 3 months...a full fledged war that is...same as indian stamina for war...big deal?

Only bhartiiiis...specially poor humiliated sikhs like you...live in Gaga land...

Pakistan Military is far stronger over-all than Korean, or Brazil etc...And Israelis are stronger than Italians...Turks are stronger, more experienced than Koreans...

Firepower list is dumb...

There was a time when two armies of the world were compared Pakistan Vs Israel. Time has changed now. It is heart breaking to see the state of affairs mentioned in your post. PA once used to be trainers of international armies and have been instrumental in gearing up quite a number of those.

Nevertheless, PA may have not have very high tech equipment, but skill wise this force is much more capable then US which is totally dependent on gadgets. If you take out the gadgets those soldiers will be kicked around in the field. Rambos can be found only in Hollywood movies. Their present situation can be attributed to many factors. Like fighting on multiple fronts, confidence shattering by media and politicians and well well well..............................

The List is made with number of men, weapons(both numeric and quality), but some times the experts tend to miss some term "battle hardened". No doubt you may have latest weapons or trained but when it comes to real war and if you have not fought for long time you will chicken out!!. In war can any person who have not fought for a long time be able to see his friends head being being blown or gut coming out? Have you seen real blood (not fake one in exercise)? It should also be taken into account. Now please somebody says which countries are in some short of war recently or in recent past with the senior generals who have actually seen war is also serving. Experience/strategies also should count. I think if one takes this into account the list will change. Am I right?

I'm sorry, as much as I want pak army to be strong in defensive capabilities, I don't think that is the case. Look at the equipment pak army uses, honestly even some African nations uses the same. I'm talking in terms of light weapons. The only edge Pakistan has is its air force, but thanks to the fat corrupt pak generals, air force won't be able to fund a full scale war for more than a week. And that's the bitter truth.
please elaborate the bold part because thier living standards are far lower than beaurocrats etc..
but i do agree some light weopens should be upgraded,,

Pakistani Exile will comment on this mail.

My take is that Star Officers have to mend their ways.

pakistan army has never had any operational capability--by operational capability I mean the ability to plan and conduct operations of division and corps size. the only reasonable plan/operation was the one launched by 23 div in 73 but that collapsed imediately after maj gen iftikhar died in accident--it just further proves the point that GHQ did not have any officer cadre capable of taking over the command in battle due to losses. the hamoodur rehman commision also shows the military plan to deal with an indian invasion of east paksitan also deeply flawed and, when launched, was haphazard and incompetently lainched.the operation in the desert launched by 18 div was another fiasco the brigadiers and generals responsible should have been courtmartialled and guillotined-same for the senior generals in GHQ for the disaster in east pakistan...

although no offcial details are avaiable, from anecdotalm evidence it is clar that the move into the FATA in 04-09 was poorly planned and executed--huge unnecessacry loss of life and persitige [an important issue in CI ops] was the result. yet no brigadiers or generals in the field and GHQ were cashiered or shot----

Based on limited and theoretical information you may be right, but realities on ground are very different. There is difference in fighting a war on web and in actual battle ground.

do you know their ways??
do you know that a 2 star generals have just a simple toyota corrolla as their staff car...
what about beaurocrats etc of equivalent level??

I certainly know more than that. And my statement in no ways absolve bureaucrats and equivalent, they are THE actual source of what all is happening in this country.

realities on the ground of the type you seem to be hinting at only affect tactical situations [up to battalion level at best] --the course of operations is quite evident from the results achieved at the operational level---- the losses in troops, the difficulties in supplying them when they were launched into the war zone, the diffcilty in communications [radio nets in mountain areas, land line, satellite comms], all should and could have been planned the course of operations shows claerly that none of these were beyond rudimentary --the typical public school approach of chapa [I understand it is very common in the staff college ---get last years papers and copy results---even instructors are intellectually incapable of drafting new tests, they just recycle old ones]...

one must face the truth---

even the basic degree of operational planning capability is absent---witness the german invasion of yugoslavia in 1941 was planned and executed within a matter of days and the country occupied in a few weeks----

also witness the retention of the archaic ranks of JCOs in the army.....

Have you ever visited FEBA, if not then you are just comments on difficulties of communications, supplies, terrain etc are just bookish knowledge. There is hell lot of difference between academic discussion and fighting a war, when actual sound of bullets and bombs surrounds. Level of anxiety and uncertainty can only be fathomed by the person who is in it.

First I would want to call @nuclearpak @Aeronaut to ban u so u stop being personal and abusive to a religion.

thr land is as big as India's so is thr economy. Thr population is around 22cr which is not very big if u see the size of thr economy and land area. It's hv a good industry base.

Pakistan can sustain a war for 3 months ? Well I didn't saw that in history and I would love to see if u can provide me a good link.

Last but not least - I m not Sikh. I m evil Hindu bhumihar (a high caste just after brahmins) from magadh. We are ones who follow chanyaka's ideology with full power and full support.
