The Indian government has claimed that preventing infiltration and terrorism are the basis of the BSF’s actions at the border, but this is utter nonsense

The Dhaka Tribune – September 15, 2013

We are pleased that the BSF has decided to hold a new trial for the murder of Felani Khatun, as the original judgment, acquitting BSF Constable Amiya Ghosh, was, not to put too fine a point on it, a travesty. However, let us not delude ourselves about what is actually taking place at the Indo-Bangla border.
The point is that the Indian government has claimed that preventing infiltration and terrorism are the basis of the BSF’s actions at the border, but this is utter nonsense.
The reality is that thousands of people cross the Indo-Bangla border everyday with the full complicity and, indeed, the full connivance of the BSF. Those who can pay a fee are allowed to cross safely. Those, however, who are unable to pay, or do not pay enough, are the ones who get shot.
Unfortunately, Felani and her father fell into the latter category. They were unable to pay, and hence Felani is dead.
This is what is happening at our border with India, a through-the-fence extortion racket run by the BSF, nothing more and nothing less.
Let us abandon the charade that these killings have anything to do with protecting India’s national security or the difficulties of policing the border.
BSF killings are a pay-for-play racket, and, as such, instituting a zero tolerance policy should be perfectly doable.
Meanwhile, let us not pretend that anything other than what is actually happening is taking place here.
To suggest otherwise insults us all.

if u dnt like bsf than take ur people back frm india.

Do not talk nonsense. It is your people who come and work in BD, not the other way. But, many people visit India to see their relatives and come back. Many Indian families also bypass the Embassy to get visa. They come in and go out by paying BGB and BSF. Some are killed when they fail to pay. Broad hearted BGB do not kill the civilians, but miser no-God Indian BSF kill people for the non-payment of a single Paisa.

Do not pretend big like an American when your living standard is lower than even the Sub-Saharans.

why do they bypass visa ?
people migrate due to various reason, the low skilled one do so to find a job. There has been internal migration within India from east to south/west because they could not get gainful employment in their place. Its not always due to difference in living standard.

Almost always the living standard of urban poor is lower than those in villages but they go to city for work and earn money which they can send to their village. They might not have enough land anymore (due to division within brothers) or anything else to do in village.

Our people go to BD legally, temporarily, and mostly for white collar jobs with specific skill sets that is not available / available in less numbers within BD.

When BD people come here to work, mostly they enter illegally, permanently, and for low-end jobs. I don't know why they come to poor India living their rich BD, but they do come, they come in large numbers, and they are real.

There is little or no demand of BD professionals for white collar jobs in India. :)

For the last part - very true.Maintaining a BD person is cost effective for cheap India. In Dhaka one BD graduate earns 30/40 thousand taka working in buying house.for the same post Indian masters holder works for 5/9 thousand taka less.
My friend was working for Indian high commission/VSF for 3 years for 72 thousand taka per month.he was later replaced by an Indian for same qualification and post only for 50,000tk.

As per former DG BDR, there are at least 1 million chanakyans living here illegally as they are overstaying. As per many reports in 2001 there were 500000 of them. SO chanakyans talking about Indians doing "professional jobs" has their brains left in their imaginary bollywood cuckoo cuckoo land. BD don't need any more chanakayan "professionals" when we have a million of them loitering around there in search of a better life. And Bangladeshis don't need to go to dirt poor hell hole of a garbage dump across the border when 40% people there can't even have 2 meals a day and defecate in the open.
