What's new

India eyes stealth fighter plane

my question was will it not be cheap and safe to produce all the component indiginiously IF we could produce . Shreekumar wrote dat DRDO director said if we go for 100% we loss. why ?? in future if we have the capabilities to make and produce every parts indiginiously should'nt we go for it.? and if other global companies too could produce their own parts will it not become more cheap than to purchase from somwhere else .?? the problem is dat we can't produce everything ourself now is'nt it .??

if we go for all indigenous parts right now then it would be a loss bcoz we are not in a position to make each and every part........
so the drdo chief said that....

the 40 percent that are not indigenous in lca are radar, engine, ejection seats and EW suits.....
still we are trying to develop these key techs...........

yes it will bee cheap and even better if we can go for all indigenous parts....but it will take time

Look mate its not easy to create tech indegenously it take years to te chlogy to get mature for eg we get cryo engine tech from russians about 20years ago but we take 20 years built that technogy is still in develompent stage we yet not master it .because we dont have past experiance or research on that tech.making indegenous tech is not a easy task there is hard research and experiance involve in it so thats why we get knowledge of tech from the countries which already expertise research and experience of that feild of technology

To make it simple... people say to make Biriyani grow chicken, rice , spice at your home(Indigenous which every one say) can we do that??.. not possible we know the knowledge how to make Biriyani .. so we can make some spice at home... but growing a chicken and rice at home is not feasible.. it will take time and money.. we need to feed chickens.. you need space for it.. you need to take care of it from becoming sick etc.. similarly for rice.. cultivation , growing them , harvesting.. at the end if you see the cost you will end up Rs10000 for making Biriyani for your family.. but when you purchase from readily available market it will cost Rs1000.. the art of making Biriyani is more important which no one will share.. but parts you can buy from where ever you want.. we just need to take care of supply chain

You still can't fully develop Tejas and you are going for stealth fighter jet good job :omghaha:
it,s quite possible specially when you join hands with more than 250 universities. we should also involve universities in R&D

well but please care to tell me why are you so concerned about it it is owr tax payers money owr research organizations and owr defnce are we asking you for your help , monitarry AID , technical expertise and last but not the least opinion in owr defnce matters :azn:

Its just ridiculous to create a thread and talk about a project that no longer exist. This would be equivalent of people here talking about creating a death star. This is a defense forum, not a fantasy adventure genre forum.

well sir for your information it does exist + there is a lot of research work gone into it and will get a very major boost when FGFA and Rafale production starts in india

thanks to LCA project we have a now the required infra , expertise and sientists who can now switch over to next level @ AMCA when LCA research is done

i know it sounds preety enoromous and unbileavable as of now but thats the way research & devlopment works its always a long journey we sure are going in the right direction

and dont worry its not a fantasy anymore for us thanks for your concerns :)

Why 70% ?? Y can't we go for 100 % indigineous. Is there any disadvantage to go for 100% .

Yes, you have to compromise on performance, with average or even less capable techs and systems, instead of integrating the best systems available. We are talking about arms that should be deadly in war times, not shiney with Indian colors in peace time parades, that's why 100% indigenous content is just a silly pride reason, while in war times it is more important to have the most capable content in the fighter.
We have to learn to look beyond these pride reasons, since they don't get us anywhere. We have fields where we already have success, like avionics, EW, materials and coatings and we will continue to increase our capabilities in other fields in future and that should be the aim, constantly getting better, constantly replacing foreign stuff and not dreaming of 100% indigenous content from the start!

Its just ridiculous to create a thread and talk about a project that no longer exist.

Who said it doesn't exist? ADA/DRDO are still following it, the wrong way though but it's still on for them.

@That Guy Kaveri has reached thrust levels it was designed for, next up is SFC & weight,So the further development activity involves flight testing on Mig 29.

As well as initial demonstration of the engine's performance on an Il-76 plane, the lab also intends to evaluate it as second engine fitted on a twin-engined MiG-29 fighter aircraft in 2014, prior to start of certification process the same year.

Which would be a good sign for a later integration into LCA and Mig 29Ks, if the weight issues can be dealt and it's mature enough. However, even for that aim it has a long way to go, to aim Kaveri on AMCA would be just another predictable failure, since AMCA will require not only more power, but also Supercruise and TVC capabilities, which all would have to be developed from scratch again. That's why the type 30 engine is still the best option we can go for, it comes with all NG capabilities, will be produced in India and all we have to do is, to add custom parts to improve it if possible or needed.

China can build J-20, surely India can build AMCA.
