What's new

India eyes stealth fighter plane

Daring attempt for high innovations with limited resources is indeed appreciable. This crticizm is not a new experince for us.When we established ISRO and start space research and nuclear research we also heard similar arguements and rant.
But you know ,we know and whole world know ISRO acheivements. They save billions of dollars of foreign reserve and earned lot of money through commercial launches.
About indigenousity. For developing a product in modern days we conduct feasibility studies.60% of components in LCA are indigenous may it will increase to 75%.thats all.further increase will not happen. It will not feasible and profitable.Even DRDO acknowledge that.
LCA is small.but quality of IAF is best.If they Give IOC to LCA
Technology used in Tejas is quite advanced and truly 4th gen.
So we believe we are in a postion for R&D in 5th gene.Due to
that if we cant complete that project in time.Delay in 5th genis sure.we can incorporate that tech to Tejas MK2 and make it 4.5generation

Why 70% ?? Y can't we go for 100 % indigineous. Is there any disadvantage to go for 100% .

Sometimes, it's not worth trying. When costs overrun the benefits, it should be cast aside. The US has learned this lesson harshly, but it's too late for them with the F-35.

Being a "Baniya" country that is what India is good at. Look at the Mars mission...it has been the cheapest till date. Well India and Indian are the masters of the art of "jugaad". Now that we have the experience of LCA and also bringing in fresh brain and blood by collaborating with the best Universities of India which produces bulk of the scientists in NASA and other leading organizations...this project would be fast tracked and cheap. Just wait and watch....

Indian reached to 82KN and target is 90KN... And how can you say that "India doesn't have the means to carry on with it"... To make you understand If Indian can achieve 82KN then we can achieve 90KN too...This is just a matter of time...FYI... Here R&D comes into the picture...

If it has reached 82KN it is as good as RD-33 used in Mig-29, Mig-35 and the JF-thunder. Why can't we use it for a twin engine MCA...and then keep working on the upgrades??

Well Knowing how much time it takes to develop a fighter, we need to invest now,
Technically IAF needs AMCA to replace 50 Mirages and 60+ Jaguars , which will retire post 2030,
Thats not gonna happen since I dont See DRDO completing the project in 15-17 yrs from conception,

Let me tell you what is actually going to happen, after enjoying a steady growth in Fighter Numbers from 2022-30, and hitting a peak of 830 Fighters across 43 Sqds in 2030,
IAF will find itself in a similar situation as it was in 1991
post 2030 sqd numbers will begin to fall unless AMCA materialises or IAF orders more FGFA
otherwise We could see a fall to 37 Sqds and 710 Jets by 2040

DRDO director at that time told if we go for 100% then it become a loss. All type of materials cant be developed in our country
it is unfeasible. We develop our fighter for provide it to our armed force with less expense. All global companies are follow this strategy

DRDO has plan to use Kaveri Engine for AMCA project... But some engine refinement is needed ... They are working on it for the same....

We know very well how Tejas is. We do not require any certification from anybody. We shall come out with top of the line stealth aircraft comparable with best very soon. We shall launch AMCA by 2018.

by 2018. This project was shelved. So now, this project is suspended.

Two projects that do not exist now. Are we talking about some virtual reality game that allow us to put Kaveri engine in AMCA.

Oh!!!!!!! Well come. We were missing your comedy. Now entertain the thread.

This project is shelved indefinitely. This project do not exist until its revived. So its not point talking about a suspended project until its up again.

well but please care to tell me why are you so concerned about it it is owr tax payers money owr research organizations and owr defnce are we asking you for your help , monitarry AID , technical expertise and last but not the least opinion in owr defnce matters :azn:

is it the matter of not able to make parts of LCA indiginious or its defence stertegy not to.? but if we had the technology and facility to produce every part of LCA would't dat be more safe and economy and not to defend on other country for supply shuold they turn their back incase of emergency ?? shuoldn't we be trying like china who make their own parts to built fighters !!

well bro thing is "rome was not built in a day" it takes time nomatter what but china is at least 10 years ahead of india in defence production and has far far advance & mature manufacturing units of defence related items than what we have we will seurli get there but it will take time

my question was will it not be cheap and safe to produce all the component indiginiously IF we could produce . Shreekumar wrote dat DRDO director said if we go for 100% we loss. why ?? in future if we have the capabilities to make and produce every parts indiginiously should'nt we go for it.? and if other global companies too could produce their own parts will it not become more cheap than to purchase from somwhere else .?? the problem is dat we can't produce everything ourself now is'nt it .??
