Kamorta class corvettes for VPN ?

Vietnam will be happy to take the older Brahmos any day.

The older versions cant do steep dive, and there max range in hi-hi mission is 300 Km, and possibly in lo-lo mission only 120 Km.

But Block-3 has a max range of 500 Km in hi-hi mission, in hi-lo around 350 KM, and in lo-lo around 200 Km.

Vietnam definitely needs fleet air defense because the south china sea will be a very dense missile environment in case of conflict. I'm talking missile saturation attacks from different sources, ships, subs and bombers. The chinese have good surveillance capabilities and they can concentrate a lot of firepower against any given task force, so Barak 8 is mandatory.

The problem with bigger ships for VN is cost. VN can't afford a Kolkata right now.
No...Don't say that you can't afford it....You can and even you can buy much more costlier Things then Kolkata class. Never underestimate your true potential. Vietnam is an emerging powerful country and we all are with you......:-).....

That block 3 sounds really good mate !!!

No, if I read it correctly, @RISING SUN said it will be based on the Sukanya class OPV. If it is, then I would be worried as the Sukanya class are old design like you've said. And these older generation OPV hulls are not designed to have the high survivability standards like corvettes or frigates.

It would be better if it is based on the Kamorta or the newer Saryu class OPV.
My bad dear, I posted the wrong boat. If I remember correct, there were four new patrol boats inducted in IN. Forth boat hull is similar to what has been proposed for VN except that it will be enlarged version. And a member had qouted here correctly that Kamorta is GRSE product and patrol boat is GSL owned. VN will be getting the boats from GSL if I am correct. And end owner of these techs is MOD which oversees all the tech transfer and exactly same is going to happen in this case. As I said VN has still not freezed the requirements, so how much of tech from Kamorta will be integrated in this class is yet to be seen. And regarding 100 km range tarpedo, it is in testing phase and same will be deployed on IN boats. It can be transferred to VN also in same deal if requests for the same.

Thank you for the update mate !! Do you have a name for that Forth boat hull that is the base for the VN ships?

The export version of the Kamorta will not be expensive. GRSE is currently bidding for the Philippines tender ($420 million for two ships, excluding armaments).

If VietNam add in armaments and radar such as MF-Star, Barak-8 and torpedos, it would probably still be around $350 million for 1 ship, which is the price of the Sigmas.
Mate I have my own doubts that IN will release such stealth boat to VN, not because it doesn't hold Vn positively, rather because it will loose the edge against Chinese sub fleet.
