BEIJING (Reuters) - China will welcome all national leaders to a military parade marking the 70th anniversary of the end of World War Two, the foreign minister said on Sunday, the strongest sign yet that it could invite wartime enemy Japan.

Sino-Japan relations have long been poisoned by what China sees as Japan's failure to atone for its occupation of parts of the country before and during the war, and it rarely misses an opportunity to remind its people and the world of this.

In the last two years, ties have also deteriorated sharply because of a dispute over a chain of uninhabited islets in the East China Sea, though Chinese and Japanese leaders met last year in Beijing to try to reset relations.

But the remarks by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi come as the two countries plan to hold their first security talks in four years in Tokyo on March 19, an indication of a possible improvement in strained ties.

"Our goal is to remember history, commemorate the martyrs, cherish peace and look to the future," Wang said of the parade at a briefing on the sidelines of China's annual meeting of parliament.

"We will extend the invitation to the leaders of all relevant countries and international organizations. No matter who it is, as long as they come in sincerity, we welcome them," Wang said in response to a question about whether Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe would be invited.

China's foreign ministry previously had said only that it would invite major participants in the war and other countries in the region to the parade.

It had been adamant that the show would not be an attempt by China's growing military to "flex muscles", though experts see the parade as largely directed at Japan.

The parade, likely to be held in September, will be Chinese President Xi Jinping's first since he took over as Communist Party and military chief in late 2012 and as state president in early 2013. He will also hold a reception and a gala during the event.

Wang said Japan needed to check its conscience about its wartime history.

"Seventy years ago Japan lost the war. Seventy years later, Japan should not lose its conscience. Will it continue to carry the baggage of history or will it make a clean break with past aggression?" he said.

That is the question
Why Japan can`t learn Germany that complete separate itself from WWII history.
But keeping proud of its own invasion history?

Why Japan can`t learn Germany that complete separate itself from WWII history.
But keeping proud of its own invasion history?

My friend, you know the answer to that question , as a fellow East Asian. Japanese , Koreans, Chinese -- we are East Asian, and have East Asian mentality and psychology. There is a unique dichotomy between East Asian mentality and Western mentality.

Japanese people are hard to understand..
They hide too much thing of their real ideas and seldom speak it out..
You have to guess why they are like this...

One word describes the entire situation for us: Shame.
For Japanese, anything that is shameful, it is rarely talked about.
The war was Japan's greatest shame. Hence you have to understand its complexity for us.
Hard to express it into words...

Yet we wish Japanese could ban these voice of denying WWII invasion, just like Germany..
Then after a few years the history issue could pass away..
But now every a few years, someone will jump out and deny the invasion..
Though they cannot represent the entire Japanese people, yet we wish these guys could be banned...

Germany losed both World Wars, its leader suicided, almost each German city was destroyed by war

Japanese shame-culture…
Every country has their own painful memories, taints and never want to mention.Like Chinese government dislike talk about our Culture Revolution. But, our official comment admitted is a disaster.
Shame don't means deny, in Chinese we have an old saying:知耻近乎勇 Feeling of shame is close to bravery(and next phase is mending).

American has this type of parade or not?
Aren't they winner ?

German are forced to admit the mistake. Remember US and UK forced German to setup Auschwitz camp memorial and German education are forced to impart German real role in WWII on all level of education.

But the allies never do that to Japan. Why allies never forced Japan to setup any WWII memorial to commemorate victims?

The real question over Japan, I can simply summarize, if it can learn to kiss China's as-s, or, at least, respect China as its new boss, in any way?
In occupied Japan, Japanese people had shown that they had a skilled kissing technique as they faced US' as-s. Why China is so angry about Japan? it is neither about Nanjing massacre, nor about Diaoyu island. Just a flattering and responsible attitude to China.
Greater East Asia Co-Prosperity Sphere, was actually a perfect program, except for only one mistake inside: the boss was not China. If most Japanese people like you realize that China's leadership over East Asia is formidable, we were supposed not to have the WWII.

Because Korea war broke out at then, US needed Japan to serve as a support base against USSR and China.

Japanese Empire was far superior to Qing and ROC but treating Chinese like insects to be butchered made a peace deal impossible even for Chiang Kai-Shek. Now PRC under leaders like Mao, Deng and Xi are giving the world a hint of what a strong and united East Asian Co-prosperity Sphere should look like. Emperor Akihito and the Prince should attend the ceremony. Nobody wants to see Abe's ugly face.

Whatever they lost the War ... and result of WWII still affect 21-century before next World War coming ... thanks god, we didn't lost whole country like French. :-)

Funny that how you treat people now

Senior diplomats from South Korea, China and Japan have held a trilateral meeting in Seoul to discuss ways to boost cooperation among the three countries.

The meeting, which was the tenth of its kind, was attended by the South Korean Foreign Ministry's Deputy Minister for Political Affairs Lee Kyung-soo, China's Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Liu Zhenmin and Japan's Deputy Foreign Minister Shinsuke Sugiyama.

The representatives discussed ongoing and possible trilateral cooperative projects. All sides agreed to improve ties in various fields including disaster management, environment, nuclear safety, cyber security and maritime policy.

The meeting is preparation for the forthcoming trilateral foreign ministers meeting expected to take place in Seoul later this month.

"China attaches great importance to the trilateral cooperation and through the trilateral foreign ministers meeting. We hope that it is going to be a successful meeting that will strengthen our cooperation while confronting key issues and challenges, and this will help put trilateral cooperation back on a healthy track. We, as three senior officials, while meeting here need to do our best commit good cooperation for our foreign ministers," Liu said.
