YOLO Series: We are abused every summer, we will be abused this year too.. Khuwaja Asif

Ok that's acceptable ... I am not their voter but I can see they are working and their are improvements.

"Insha Allah tau na kahin Sir"

it meas in 2013 lad shedding was more , it improved in 2014 and will further improve in 2015 and this problem will vanish in 2017-2018. Good realistic statement .

it is a good realistic statement indeed and i sincerely hope that it turns out to be true but unfortunately we do not have started ANY project to achieve this goal. There have been MoU and ground breaking but NOTHING physical is happening as yet. Nothing of significant importance at least.

had 3 hour straight loadsheddng that s besde the 6 hour daily. Lahore may suffer less as compared to Zardari but what have they done to cope 8000 mw shortage except the solar project with max efficiency 600 mw?

Sir realistic is far a cry, ending loadshedding, even if it was PTI in govt, things wont improve unless we start building freaking DAMS !

They have completed half of their term and things seems to be changing slowly and consolidates so I believe we must let them have their term completed and not create hurdles for what they are doing and which is in the half way. We can take on them through voting in next 2 and a half years if they could not deliver in 5 years term which looks quiet inevitable.

totally agreed!
Even mega coal fired plants may help as the can produce 2000-3000 MW but the problem that we are NOT UNDERSTANDING is that the water crisis will be equally serious in some 12 15 years time. Dams are the only option that will address both these issues with a single investment and we are just not interested in that. It have been over some 12 years now since we have been getting an MoU a year for dams but there is absolutely NOTHING happening in this regard. I do not know why are we waiting for the water issues to get equally worse before we start introducing some sort of Independent Water Producers, an all new IWPs against the old IPPs!! This is absolutely ridiculous.

The only reason, a logical one is that since ANY dam cannot be completed in a single government tenure so everyone is thinking why should i invest in this project when someone else will take credit. This shows the patriotism and the commitment to this nation of our leaders!

These bastards are shameless & they don't care for Pakistan at all.

i agree with this, we should let the Government complete its term and then decide who to vote for in next elections. But dear, unfortunately the slow improvement is things is just some artificial make-up being put on. Take some money pay the already existing power plants running on furnace oil etc and get a few MW into the national grid to make the people think things are improving. I would have been much more at peace knowing that not a single MW have been added as yet but we have STARTED construction of Two three DAM projects that will add 10000 to 12000 MW in 7/8 years!! that would have been a long term solution. People must try and understand the gravity of the problem. We are lagging some 8000 MW behind. This will not improve actually unless we start projects of MORE then this 8000 MW because by the times these will be completed the national requirement would also have increased. Then there is the water issue that i personally am always shouting about. I am sorry to say but people have no idea how bad things are going to get in terms of water shortage unless we start doing something about it right now. It is already late and we will suffer but as soon as we can start working in that direction the smaller will be the time where we will be suffering from that crisis.

what projects and when is their finish time and how much allocated for them in previous 2 budgets by pmln?
nothing by the govt, only private sector most of them have just started working so may be completed by 2017.

no major hydro dams initiated other than tarbela whose financial closure was achieved by PPPP and is 100% WB funded project.
dasu is still waiting even though 70% finances were arranged by WB but 128 billion rupees over 4 years(30 billion/year) cannot be achieved so govt is waiting and is most likley going to shift to 4th year as per intial reports but lets see and wait.

no word on bhasha dam.

and not even PC1 on bunji.

basically PML N cannot spend money due to IMF restriction, lack of taxation and huge losses in power sector. It cannot attract investment in major projects due to circular debt problem and lack of reforms. problem is that it axed hydro and energy project as it missed projected gain of 300 billion rupees in taxation and over 100 billion in power losses, luckily he oil prices are down otherwise it would have been a disaster

I am afraid that by 2018 we will just have a temp fix and new govt (almost certainly PML N)will be scratching their heads again.

They dont care about us, and people dont care either, the like to bend, and in between two types of people we are, who see where things are going, but are just lone voices who can cry for the country but cannot do much practically.

I personally talk to anybody, I say only DAMs can solve loadshedding and nothing else.. I say no further in this regard.. maybe people realize sooner than later.

i understand bhasha dam construction is difficult due to lack of funds but the delay in dasu dam is totally unacceptable.
gov is not ready to add a single rupee from PSDP. The got working seems to have same priority as any other part, try win next election rather than doing something good.

All of WAPDA proposals some of them workable were put on deaf ears due to political reasons. they include using tarbela dam assets, making wapda an IPP, using supplier credit or using a state to state agreement.

ok a step by step breakdown of electricity crisis
Lots of projects MOU signed enough to finish crisis and move towards excess electricity
There are no dams being built, but allocation for Basha in next budget will take priority, let us see what happens there
The current situation is because CNG has been DIVERTED from fertilizer sector to the IPP's and we are getting electricity but importing urea so we have no real net savings
There will be addition of about 900 MW next year thanks to Neelum Jhelum dam which has started from Musharraf's era and has been a lesson in how democracy is a failing system for Pakistan. (before arguing study about the issue)
The LNG project is full of scandals and to make it cheaper then furnace oil(per unit) there has been decrease in taxes on LNG for IPP's so basically different rates for different consumers.
But what to expect when people do not now that we are taking 2 billion dollars loan to import oil so that our foreign reserves increase, however artificial that it may be.

@Arsalan The issue of water storage seems to be lost to deaf ears, it seem that people can live without water, but need their parties to win elections.
