US-Pak negotiations on nuclear cooperation?

Hi,
Electricity is an issue for Pakistan but Water is a bigger issue since there is swing in the mood of the Americans, Pakistani's should ask for American help in this issue instead of adopting the tit for tat policy "u signed nuclear deal with India so also do with us" Pakistan can resolve its electricity problem if the so called leadership shows a little commitment, But water shortage is a serious issue, people can live without electricity but without water :disagree: this lack of foresightedness in Pakistani foreign policy has always obstructed Pakistan from making any significant headway :hitwall:

If true ,it's a great news for Pakistan. It will help you produce clean energy in the long run.

may have many strings attached to the deal some of them are as below..others can add to the list...if you want to remove anything plz take written permission from me...lol.. ;-)..does not apply to chinese....

What do you base this speculation on? You haven't backed a single claim with the remotest reference.

In my opinion, USA trying whatever it can for Pakistan to break off the deal with Iran, that is why it is offering the nuclear deal.

So if USA is trying to make Pakistan break off the deal, I doubt they are not going to put too much strings on it, cos if there is too much strings, I am sure Pakistan is going to reject, unless Zardari feels cheap and decided to sell Pakistan's sovereignty.

However, it is just my speculation, feel free to object to it, or discuss about it.

India went through hardship just to get waiver from Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) even with full support of US. I dont think, for Pakistan, it would be a cake walk as far as NSG is concerned.

As I said elsewhere, these are 'talks about talks' - there will be no immediate breakthrough on this issue.

The biggest change is the willingness of the US to even discuss the issue - progress on the issue will depend upon a host of factors, and take some time, as it did with India.

this nuke deal seems preety much good but it actual sense it is not so

first of all theirs a lot of strings attached ,one of them in indian case was iran(due to which indo-iranian relations strained)

the same would b also forwarded to pakistan

second all reactors under iaea inspection, though india got an exception for some reactors than can b used by military

i think pakistan will ask for the same but depends on american policy

the nuke deal with india was sighned 2 yrs back but still not operationalized, the last hurdle in the place is the nuke liability bill,a very hot topic in indian parliament and big news among media,if the bill is not passed the deal is as much as over

if pakistan gets the nuke deal, they also have to go through this bill which will b indead a big hurdle

if all goes through congrats u got the nuke deal

Thinking aloud:

US and Pakistan Signs a Civil Nuclear deal Just like India.......What happens then.....Pakistan has to place orders to US companies to Buy Nuclear materials...and equipments that can be used in Civil nuclear Infrastructure.....If people remember India is in process of buying Nuclear Stuff worth 30 Billion US dollars form American companies......

Does Pakistan have enough money to Buy Nuclear equipment......if Not than why this nuclear deal.....just for heck of it......Because India has one so Pakistan has to have one......is that the justification Pakistanis have.......I mean what after deal is signed.....is US going to give Nuclear equipment and material to Pakistan for free.........
