Transfer of S-300 airdefence systems from the Russian Federation to the Islamic Republic on 18 Feb

Again...

Kremlin: Delivery date of S-300s to Iran unclear due to payment issues

Too early to talk about particular dates of S-300 delivery to Iran, as the deal has not been properly paid for, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told journalists on Feb. 18.

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed Russian-Iranian military-technological cooperation at his recent meeting with Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan. "Various issues related to military-technological cooperation in general were discussed," Peskov told.

Peskov said that it is too early to name the exact delivery date for the S-300s.

"There are no concrete dates so far, because there are problems related to the payment and so on. The deal has not yet been properly paid for, and therefore it is premature to talk about concrete dates so far," he said.

Russia denies imminent delivery to Iran

Russia's Defense Ministry has denied reports it was set to deliver the S-300 air defense systems to Iran on Thursday. Russian authorities say that delivery will not take place since Iran has not paid the agreed price.

The deal was originally signed in 2007. The sale has been delayed due to western pressure following the UN sanctions on Iran. But last April, Moscow lifted the ban on the S-300 after the nuclear deal reached between six world powers and Tehran.

Transfer took place yesterday through the Caspian Sea, they can not confirm due to sensitivity of the issue.

And by the way After all, Russia has delivered to Iran a very powerful radar. Nebo-SVU.
This radar sees planes with ETA = 0.1 square meters at a distance of 150 km.
At the altitude of 100 m - 25 km
At the altitude of 500 m - 60 km
At the altitude of 10000 m - 270 km
At the altitude of 20,000 m - 360 km

but are their missiles , maneuvarable enough to hit a plane that's flying at a low altitude , i mean you guys brought down the f-117 , but that's a sluggish plane , an israeli f-16 that might want to sneak in will fly at a low altitude and can dodge the missile with countermeasure , even the s-400 looks like katyusha rather than a sam that is small enough for a plane like the f-16 or the f-18

Is this a real deal, or a real extortion by Russia to our Persian "friends"?

Very nice posts . tnx for sharing your info

@Daneshmand @Serpentine positive points anyone ?

Russians Officials are saying that " we will give old version of S300 to Iran and after they pay the price in cash " .
that means they want to sell used S300 PMU to us and they except us to pay the price in advance !!!

Why can't Turks and Iranians develope a missile defense system together? We produce the radar system, you guys create the missiles then we put everything together: et voilà.

Anyway, at the end of the day Russia will deliver this system to Iran otherwise they will discredit themselves in a very big way.

take whatever you can get buddy, old or new S-300 is a very very potent system, you guys can upgrade or integrate it on your own with chinese help.
A s-300 umbrella will neutralize at least arab/Israeli overwhelming air power. Iranian air force is weakest in the region.

The only thing you get when purchasing weapons from the Russians is empty promises

Iran should ask for the weapons to be delivered assembled and tested before paying a dime! That should be the 1st requirement before buying any weapons from the Russians.

Only if the israel doesn't stop it at the red sea

Stop what in the Red Sea? the hell does the Red Sea have to do with anything? Russians can transport them through the Caspian Sea or via Aircraft straight to Tehran or Isfahan

The issue of transferring the S-300 missile system to Iran is a prime example of Russian uncertainty. Tehran and Moscow signed an $800 million contract for the S-300s in Dec. 2007, and another contract last year.

The office of Russian President Vladimir Putin published a decree lifting the ban on the missile transfer when he visited Tehran in November. The transfer was supposed to have taken place at the end of 2015 or in early 2016, but this has not yet happened. The disappointed Iranians are perhaps waiting for the results of the next round of Syria talks before confronting Moscow.

Turkey is a NATO country so developing anything with them would compromise the system.

Maybe 10 years later, not now.
