India eyes Meghalaya-Bengal road link thru' Bangladesh

India will propose another road route from its state Meghalaya to its another state Bengal through Bangladesh.

Indian ministry of external affairs has sought the attention of Bangladesh to further the proposed plan to connect Mahendraganj in South West Garo Hills of Meghalaya to Hili Land Port -- Balurghat in Bengal through Goraghat, Palashbari and Gaibandha in Bangladesh, said a report by thenortheasttoday.com

As per an official release issued by the Movement Committee for Corridor from Balurghat-Hili to Mahendraganj this week, an official communication has been initiated by the ministry of external affairs to the Bangladesh to examine the proposed route.

Sanjay Jain from the ministry of external affairs in its letter dated June 30, 2017 informed the movement committee that they have conveyed the matter to external affairs mission in Dhaka to take up the matter with Bangladesh and examine the feasibility of the proposed route.

The stretch from Mahendraganj via Bangladesh to Bengal will be about 100 km and boost trade and commerce between the two countries. Furthermore, the movement committee has called upon the people of Northeast to join the movement and mobilize public support to further its mission and vision and to strengthen the spirit of the movement.

They have also asked the people to petition the Government of India to convince the latter to adopt all possible steps in order to open up the corridor from Mahendraganj (Meghalaya) on and through Bangladesh to Hili (Bengal) so as to fulfil people's long standing demands to which everybody's attention is drawn.

The committee has also taken up the matter with Meghalaya chief minister Mukul Sangma and West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee requesting them to take up the matter with the central leadership.

This cockroach India is talking of boosting the trade between the two countries, while in reality, the purpose is to benefit India by reducing the length of road from Meghalaya to Balurghat in Bengal. This is what Indian diplomacy is all about. Just talk nice and get all the benefits, but not give anything back in exchange.

The fact that we have not dammed majority of the rivers flowing into Bangladesh is favour enough. The fact we provide Medical visas to BD patients even for Blood tests is favour enough. Connectivity boosts trade. The mature BD govt will take decisions.

Actually you like or not there are many projects with Bangladesh & Myanmar are going on under India's act east policy to connect north-east as well as connect countries like Thailand, Vietnam etc.

We gave you all you gonna get by liberating you (if you didn't want it, make better political choices and compromises ok?) You are our eternal footstool now, get used to it. We will propose, you will accept and world moves on....just like no one bats an eyelid of putting shoe on footstool to tie shoelaces.

We need Hasina and her son in power for the next 10-15 years, and we will have Indian trucks running through each and every highway of Bangladesh.

Indian trucks going where? We seen those bs for too long now. YOu dont have any economy to talk about in NE, and few trucks here and there does not warrant massive investment. That is the reason India chickened out a meagre $7 billion investment in road infrastructure.

This is no way of treating a sovereign country. Shame on you India

But, your dear Hasina is again buying two more submarines under your nose while you dream of getting connectivity. This time, it is Song class. Is it not very annoying to the short-breathed Indians? BD will certainly not respond to Indian love-love corridor proposal let alone sitting for a meeting.

Oh, India liberated us? My bal*s. We took IA troops with us to give us support with big guns from behind, while we fought frontal. This is how India enjoyed at least one win in its entire history after 1947. Ooh, I must mention again even for such a big win IA troop loss was a paltry 1300. Now, some of you guys will come out with a crap that IA training was so high that it resulted in such a low level of loss of lives.

Trade with Bangladesh should also increase.
Tell us under what process BD-India trade or BD export to India will increase when the only beneficiary of this proposed road connection will be the sweet talking India. I wonder, how a country can be such a shameless as India when it refuses to give us our rightful share of water, but asks for new facilities from BD.

We should send atleast 15000 soldiers to guard these roads to protect our Investment/Infrastructure & our INTERESTS!!
