2.38 million rich Pakistanis don't pay taxes

Okay, then, there are more than 5 million rich people whose interests are tied to keeping Pakistan going like this to their advantage. Hence it is likely that their success in this will keep Pakistan going forever.

No that is Just Concentrated Development , in other Words , Rich Getting Richer & Poor & poorer . Their Income Tax is the main reason our Budget is always in deficit , & so are our Balance of Payments .

How much income tax you think you can get from these 2.38 million Pakistanis and at what rate? 25%, 40%, or 50%?

And where is your proof that they have the required cash lying around?

Someone needs to change the Title.

I'll give you the example of Canada. Every Canadian Files Taxes regardless of he-she being liable or not to pay there is a Record. Pakistan should impose Tax Filing mandatory, similar to keeping ID Cards.

Pakistan's population is almost 19 Crore and atleast potential 3 Crore people are not paying Taxes according to their financial level. Imagine if 3 Crore Pakistanis pay A Thousand Rupees every Year; do the maths...

That richie rich beauty, Hina Rabbani Khar doesn't pay taxes too! Jeeez! :undecided: That sucks, what?

But then she flaunts Birkin bags each worth Rs 7 lakh, wears Jimmy Choo jutees with a Rs 50,000 price tag and Roberto Cavalli glasses that come for nothing less that Rs 20,000! Never mind the poor tax paying sods who have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to pay their taxes.

If I am not mistaken, indirect taxes are actually quite high in Pakistan. It obviously isn't ethically correct to evade taxes because the money earned is supposed to be spent on running the government, maintaining public property, & of course; providing citizens with some decent public services. That brings me to my next point; if Pakistan wants to discourage citizens from evading taxes, they are going to have to provide taxpayers with better incentives. Those incentives include high quality health care & educational institutes, social security benefits, a well maintained infrastructure for transportation, & some of the basics like electricity & clean water. I don't mean to imply that Pakistan lacks all of these facilities, but from what I have heard; government hospitals for instance lack the capacity to provide the poor with an acceptable standard of health care. The point is that taxpayers need to receive certain incentives or they will simply try & evade paying taxes on the assumption that it is nothing more than an added expense. The government's reputation for being corrupt is also a probable cause for this issue.

Your post reminds of leftists' attack on Mitt Romney that he doesn't pay enough taxes.

Hina type people earn money in the wrong way. It is like you dupe the bank and make money by fraud, well heck you are not going to report it the government. Would you?

In Pakistan, posts like yours and leftists have been hounding the rich from 1970s. So the rich hide their money from prying eyes.

then you mix this with Islamo fascism, and start auto-deducting zakat from anyone who keeps money in the bank.

Guess what, people don't leave most of their money in the bank either.

Leftists and Islamists have ruined our country and thus rich people like Hina don't start up good businesses. They instead trade permits, take bribes, and thus do not declare their income sources. Duh! do you want to get caught and go to jail?

Unless we do corporate reforms, treat our farmland as industry, setup good accounting practices for agricultural sector, people like Hina will continue showing their expensive items and pay no income tax.

So please let go of this socialists mentality of "snatch from the rich", and instead focus on updating our agricultural sector incoming recordation from 17th century to 21st century.

peace.

and this is why our poor are getting poorer and poorer... sadly, laws are controlled by those who are rich, not those who are poor

As long they are getting US tax payers money and printing money like crazy , the culture can't be changed.

I guess its income tax not taxes every one in Pakistan pays taxes on every thing.....title must be change....

plus This govt tried to change law where a person with black money can easily start business & pay taxes & invest in stock market & no one could ask them where is money comes from but just need to pay taxes, just as a start up but agian media is upto govt & here to criticize each & every step no matter it is good or not.....

FBR has gathered the data from Bank Accounts. There is a centralized system with SBP through which by inserting the CNIC of a person, the list appears containing ALL bank accounts opened in the name of person holding that CNIC. The list includes million of millionaires who have not even obtained NTN. Now the plans are to provide an opportunity to those via amnesty scheme to declare their undisclosed wealth. Though that will benefit the PPP hawaris at large for the corruption money during this era of govt.

2.38 Million is Too Low number , The Number is more then 5mln

I would prefer the citizen's residing outside pakistan on the basis of a PAKISTANI IDENTITY to pay taxes too, Because its due to this identity that they get into any country and find a job, so there is some credit DUE to the NATION which MUST be paid in the form of tax. may it be a nominal 2% of their income the foreign exchange may result in quite good sums of money. As there are many residing outside the country it would certainly profit the country. :pakistan:
