4 Chinese surveillance ships sail near Senkaku Islands
NAHA, Japan, Oct. 26, Kyodo

Four Chinese maritime surveillance ships entered the contiguous zone adjacent to Japan's territorial waters around the Japanese-controlled Senkaku Islands in the East China Sea, which are claimed by China, on Friday morning, according to the Japan Coast Guard.

One of the vessels contacted a Japanese coast guard ship using an electric bulletin board and radio, urging the Japanese to observe Chinese law and exit the waters near the islets, known in China as Diaoyu.

Around 6:20 a.m., the four Chinese craft went into the contiguous waters north-northwest of Kuba, one of the islets making up the Senkakus, the Naha, Okinawa Prefecture office of the Japan Coast Guard said.

On Thursday, a different set of four Chinese surveillance ships sailed in the territorial waters around the Senkakus for about seven hours.

What happened? Did the Japanese quietly retreat? Or did they flex some muscle? :what:
