Below is the summary of the entire interview along with some direct quotes by Altaf Hussain.
From 1:00 - 15:00
- Major Arya begins the interview by asking Altaf as to why the Pakistani Army blames him for instigating violence in Karachi. Arya says that he discussed this with an unnamed Mohajir doctor in Karachi who said that in stark contrast to the Pak Army's portrayal, the Mohajirs still view Altaf as 'father of the nation.' Major Arya also asks Altaf the meaning of the word Mohajir.
- Altaf replies by greeting Indians with namaste and salaam. He proceeds to explain that even though many families were divided during partition, not many Muslims know what the word 'mohajir' means. Altaf addresses the Indian public and says 'Mohajirs are part of you ! ' and calls the Mohajirs 'India ka meetha meetha paani' and 'Hum ghair nhi...hum wohi hain jo ap hain.'
- Altaf says that only the 'occupying force' calls him a traitor and that there exists a difference between the 'occupiers' and 'occupied.' He then goes on to discuss the history of the British Raj in India and how Indians from all walks of life gave sacrifices in the freedom movement. The MQM chief then talks about British power waning during WW2 and that they could not hold onto India longer.
- While discussing the freedom movement, Altaf lists foremost the contributions of Mahatma Gandhi. He then says 'Gandhi jee baray vakil thay, unhay azadi ki zaurat nhi thi'.

From 30:00 - 45:00
- Altaf talks about Gandhi's jail time. Then he says that 'har daur ma har jaga selfish, baimaan, dhokaybaaz, biknay walay, aatma ko beechnay walay, dharam ko beechnay walay log hotay hain'
- Altaf says that 'Quaid-e-Azam jinko kaha jata ha wo pehlay Congress ma thay lekin unka muqaam Gandhi wala nhi tha. Quaid par angreezo nay haath rakha.' He then says that he can prove in the ICJ that the British paid 'one lakh dollars' for the establishment of All India Muslim League. Moreover, he accuses the Quaid of not knowing how to read the Quran, offer namaz and that the Quaid did not 'masjid mai jaanay kay adaab.' He also says that Jinnah ate pig and drank alcohol yet the Muslims made him their leader. Calls the Quaid an 'angreez' and accuses him of using religion to create 'fasaad.'
- The MQM leader says that West Punjab was the part of subcontinent which allied itself against the Indian people. Altaf says that Punjabis perpetuated the Jallianwala massacre.
- Altaf says that throughout history, Hindus and Muslims lived peacefully side by side in the subcontinent. Partition and bad blood created between communities was a British conspiracy. Propaganda machinery of that time, such as newspapers, were used to spread hatred and reports which pitted HIndus and Muslims against each other.
- Says that Mohajirs arent to blame and it was their ancestors who were guilty of being fooled in name of religion and creation of a separate Pakistan.
- Altaf then talks about the Pakistan Army's alleged atrocities and occupation of sindh, baluchistan and kpk.
- While weeping, Altaf tells Indian Muslims 'India kay Musalmano.....tum hum say lakh darjay behtar zndagi India ma guzaar rahay ho.' He also talks about how Mohajirs aren't considered Pakistanis and are looked at with suspicion.
- Altaf Hussain says that Mohajirs in Pakistan can't reach top positions in state institutions such as the army and face racial slurs such as 'bhaiya.'
From 45:00 - 57:00
- Major Arya says that Mohajirs taught 'tameez' to Punjabis, but in a few years, were considered enemies by the Punjabi dominated bureaucracy and army. Altaf replied by saying that Mohajirs established financial centers and educational institutes in the country but were kicked out from top posts soon. He blames Ayub Khan for having an anti Mohajir bias and says that Jinnah 'ko 1948 ma qatal kar dia gya.' He says that industries owned by Mohajirs were taken over by state and after de-nationalisation, the industries were transferred to Punjabis.
- Altaf addresses Indians by saying 'Jab india kay saath oonch neech hoti hai toh hum rotay hain..mohajir kay lye bhi anso baha lo.' He then says 'agar iqbal India ko dharti maa kahay toh halaal..agar altaf kahay toh haraam.'
- Major Arya diverts discussion to operation in Karachi. Altaf responds by saying that 25,000 Mohajirs have been killed by the Pakistani Army. Altaf then shows pictures of many Mohajirs supposedly killed. The photos include; 1- Nasir Hussain (Altaf's brother), 2- Altaf's nephew, who was a student at NED, 3- Dr Hassan Arif, professor at Karachi University.
- Altaf says that courts in Pakistan did not provide justice to Mohajirs and that all non Punjabis want independence.
- Altaf requests Major Arya to take a team of Indian journalists to Karachi's shuhuda graveyard and see the reality themselves.
- Major Arya talks about Altaf's letter to UN, in which the MQM leader pleaded for independence and also says to Altaf that the Punjabi dominated Pakistani media paints a false picture of Pakistan. Altaf says that Mohajirs have no option but to rise up against the occupiers and shows an alleged petition filed in Supreme Court in 1994 by Barrister Farooq Hassan highlighting atrocities against Mohajirs. ALtaf says that not an single hearing has been held till today.
- While addressing Punjabis, Altaf says 'hum punjabi kay khilaaf nhi..tumhari jo occupying nature hai..zulm aur barbariat ki...hum us kay khilaaf hain.'
- Altaf asks Major Arya to form a team of journalists and go to embassies worldwide and find out how many non Punjabis work in Pakistani embassies. He then says tp Major Arya to take a team to the Pakistani embassy in Delhi and challenges that not even a single Mohajir works there.
- Major Arya asks Altaf if the reason behind anti Mohajir sentiment is the insecurity of Punjabis and that he could not understand why Pakistan, which was created as a safe haven for Muslims, has ended up killing thousands of them. Altaf agrees with both statements. Altaf then talks about India owning Maulana Azad and Pakistan's ill treatment of Abdul Qadeer Khan. Altaf also rejects accusations that he forces people of Karachi to vote for him by claiming that MQM won its first local body elections while he was in jail.
- Altaf then reveals that he wrote two letters to Modi, which weren't even acknowledged. The letters were an appeal to Modi for raising the issue of alleged Mohajir mistreatment on international forums. Altaf expresses disappointment that Modi has raised the issue of Baluchistan but has not yet talked about Mohajirs. He also calls for Indian writers to propagate the Mohajir cause.
- In closing comments, Altaf says that Mohajirs and Sindhis now stand united in demand for a separate state and that he wants an answer as to whether partition was a historical blunder or not. Major Arya replies in the affirmative.
- The interview ends with Altaf and Major Arya agreeing to meet up for lunch or dinner one day in London.
