Altaf, Imran share views on telephone

A couple of explanations for the folks, who are probably miss-informed.

PTI did not only contact MQM but also all the other smaller political parties who are sick and tired of the prevailing status- quo politics. PTI contacted the Pakistan Labor Party, Pakistan Communist party and many others to from a consensus on the current political situation in the country.

PTI did not compromise on its principles to make an alliance and share power with MQM in the future. The only reason IK called Altaf Hussain is because recently MQM has started towing the same line as PTI on many national issues. It was more of a pat on the back for Altaf Hussain for finally manning up.

Lastly, PTI is not right wing by any stretch of imagination. If by putting the sovereignty of the country and the welfare of the people before anything else makes you a right wing party, then sure by all means PTI is a right wing party and it's got no qualms about it either.

...Altaf Hussain has recently started taking a tough stance in public, on issues like unabated US predator attacks inside Pakistani territory, release of CIA contractor Raymond Davis and Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
...
Altaf's slogans are NO different than Musharaf's naraa' "Sabb Sey Pehlay Pakistan"... which he did actually NOT mean... these are nothing but words of mouth ... Proving that is easy,,, just look whether their actions are on same lines as they utter or not...

. Its a good omen for Imran Khan because it was initiated by Altaf Hussain., now MQM is trying for good terms with him . This could be Imran's rise to the national scene because his main support base lies in Urban Punjab and KP .

Burying the hatchet: Imran calls up Altaf, agrees to work together

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf Chairman appreciates stance taken by Altaf Hussain.
ISLAMABAD:
After years of political animosity, Imran Khan’s Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Altaf Hussain’s Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) appear to be coming closer as the two leaders held their first telephonic conversation and exchanged good will with each other.
In a rare move, Imran Khan called Altaf Hussain on Saturday and appreciated the ‘bold’ stance taken by the latter on national issues, separate but identical statements issued by media offices of both the parties said.
The two leaders agreed to bury their past differences and vowed to work together for the betterment of the country, the statements added.
PTI and MQM have been considered staunch rivals in the past, at times holding public rallies and resorting to personal attacks against each other’s leadership.
Recently, however, the two parties have come closer, mainly due to back-channel efforts by some common friends and political leaders in Pakistan, observers say.
The second-tier leadership of the two parties prepared the ground that culminated in direct interaction between their leaders.
During their conversation, both sides discussed common agenda points and vowed to work together to achieve their goals.
Altaf Hussain has recently started taking a tough stance in public, on issues like unabated US predator attacks inside Pakistani territory, release of CIA contractor Raymond Davis and Dr Aafia Siddiqui.
The same issues take centre-stage in Imran Khan, and several right-wing parties’, political agendas.

Even If IK called first it only shows the fact it was pre-set to be done, secondly his political maturity and what we say "Bara Pan". nothing more nothing less.

now atleast his Cancer Hospital and Research Centre in Karachi can be built.

This is very interesting and could change the political scenario in this nation.

Such an alliance or a merger will definitely shake the political core of this nation and I for one would like to see this happen.

In all likelihood, it was a natural consequence of aligning interests of fomenting a revolution in Pakistan only. There will be ZERO alliance between them politically, Imran cannot work 1 day on mutual political fronts at all. Neither MQM will give them space in Karachi, neither would Imran give them space in Punjab. They are two parties that just want revolution other than that PTI's non-violence directly conflicts with MQM's overkill violence.

A pretty decent summation of this phone call being blown out of proportions

well if IK doesn't talk to others and rides alone then some guys say he is alone and cannot win ... when he talks to others then they say he is compromising on principles .......give IK a break will u ... The fact will remain that he is the most clean of the lot

indeed Tayyab. the sole purpose of these critics of IK comes out of shere jealousy, envy, and being dirty themselves.

Our people should really stop obsesisng about past leaders like Musharraf and Nawaz Sharif. They already ruled Pakistan, they had their time, they should retire and move on with their lives. Because of Musharraf we are suffering because of war OF terror, and I think you must be crazy to put a thief like Nawaz Sharif in charge of finance. We Pakistanis never learn from our mistakes.

As for MQM, they only have suport in Karachi and Hyderabad, while all across Pakistan you will find substantial support for Imran Khan. MQM knows this thats why they want to make peace with Imran Khan.

So whats the combined population of these 2 cities ??

Wasn't he the one who called him traitor oh never mind it's ok ! anything and everything for power

@Muteeee he even called him Gidhar. the thing is Political Maturity of IK which you fail to understand in this issue.

well my dear friends the real issue is not that who called who and how decides to vows..the real issue is that what is better for the future for our beloved country Pakistan..if some political parties are showing sum gratitude towards each other and have decided to work with each other and they can bring change and betterment for the people of Pakistan then besides seeing that what they say and from where they belong we should appreciate them and their political maturity..because public issue is not that who has power and who is ruling their issue is their basic needs that needs to be fulfilled..

Listen kid, MQM has 25 MNA, 50+ MPAs, a Governer of Sindh, biggest party of kashmir, 2nd biggest in Gilgit, while Imran Khan has no seat in assembly.

Now you would say Imran Khan boycotted 2008 election, so you should also know that Imran Khan had only 1 seat in 2003 elections.

And keep in mind this contact was initiated bu Imran Khan, not Altaf Hussain !
