Another Tamil Nadu fisherman brutally killed by Lankan Navy

Simple solution:

JOINT PATROLLING OF THE PALK STRAIT BY THE INDIAN AND SL NAVIES.

Sri Lanka has proposed this time and time again.

It's Tamil Nadu that has been opposing this.

But screams blue murder when a fisherman dies.
Actually these solution reomve the iota of pretensions from GOI.hence it wont accept these solutions. And will keep on blaming srilanka to keep tamils happy.

Some people trying to damage the steadily improving ties between Colombo & New Delhi. This kind of incidents won’t create any problems between both countries.

Sri Lanka Navy always ready for joint patrolling with Indian Navy but still no response

Infiltrators, yes... however I agree innocent fisherman from Tamil Nadu should not be targeted except when they are poaching, and that too should be limited to arrest and fines.

The ball is in Tamil Nadu's court to prove its accusations that it is the SL Navy that is behind the 'killings.'
y they will prove the accusations when they ve easy scapegoat in srilankan navy to blame their failed smuggling.if they do that they gona get caught as sponsors of smugglers.

Sri Lanka Navy categorically denies allegations that we have attacked and killed an Indian fisherman last Saturday and also say that these allegations are baseless and without proof, Navy spokesman Captain Athula Senarath told Daily Mirror online

He further added these allegations were made time to time and that they suspected that few elements wanted to create problems and harm the goodwill between the Sri Lankan Navy and the Indian Navy and its officials.

We have given strict instructions to our naval patrols and we ensure that these instructions are carried out. We have investigated these allegations several times and proved their baseless, Captain Senarath said.

The Hindu reported on Sunday “that a fisherman from Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu was killed allegedly by the Sri Lankan Navy on Saturday night. Taking a serious view of the “killing of two Tamil fishermen in 10 days” by the Sri Lankan Navy, Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Sunday had assured Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi that the Centre would take up the issue with the Sri Lankan authorities.”

Captain Senarath also noted that the Navy Commander had stated that India can provide proof, if there is any that the Sri Lankan Navy killed the Indian fishermen during the alleged shooting incidents.

President Mahinda Rajapaksa had also instructed the Navy last several weeks to carry out a detailed investigation into an alleged incident that the Lankan Navy had fired on Indian fishermen.

India says killing of fisherman 'unacceptable'
New Delhi: Strongly reacting to the killing of a second Indian fisherman in less than a fortnight allegedly by the Sri Lankan Navy, New Delhi on Sunday termed it as "unacceptable" and sought a report in the matter from its mission in Colombo.

External Affairs Minister SM Krishna has taken the matter "very seriously", saying it is "unacceptable" and has sought a report from the Indian mission.

The minister's office has also asked Tamil Nadu Special Department to provide the details regarding the fisherman and the incident.

The fisherman was killed and two others were injured while fishing off Kodiakarai coast yesterday.

The man, who had put out to sea with two others from Pushpavanam coastal hamlet, died after Sri Lankan Naval personnel allegedly tied a rope around his neck and pushed him into the water, fisheries department sources said.

On January 12, in an incident of attack on Tamil Nadu fishermen in Palk Straits, one person was killed when Lankan Navy allegedly opened fire at three fishermen, who put out to sea from Jagadapattinnam near Pudukottai.

Exactly.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ruling elite in Tamil Nadu have their hands deep in in drug smuggling, gun running, poaching and other nefarious activities. Their corruption is pretty well known . It's pretty fishy when they continue to oppose joint patrolling even now when the LTTE has been defeated.

What is there to lose? What is there to hide? Let the Indian and SL navies patrol the maritime boundary between Tamil Nadu and Sri Lanka.

Awaiting a positive response from Tamil Nadu (not holding my breath though).

Looking forward to the escalating anti-Sri Lankan rhetoric as the Tamil Nadu election nears

India’s RAW should investigate this & then can see the truth……….

RAW is not the investigating agency.

investigating work will be ( if any ) will be done by CBI or Coast guards along with Sri lankan authorities.

India lost any moroal right to protest Sri Lankan action. One can expect india try to flex muscle but that also has its limitation as many indians in govt and in public fail to grasp the reality.

This is more of a statement of pacification or appeasement intended for tamilnadu govt than the srilankan govt as Ruling DMK is coilation partner at center and it can bring down central govt if UPA govt dont pacify it.

investigating work will be ( if any ) will be done by CBI or Coast guards along with Sri lankan authorities.

And even Indians know that CBI is not an independent investigating agency. Its mere a tool to advance govt's agenda. So even if CBI investigates it srilankan govt cant expect free and fair investigation from CBI.
