New Delhi:

Defence Minister A K Antony will raise Indian concerns about continued military aid to Pakistan with top US officials during his visit to Washington on September 27-28.

Antony, who is leading a high-level delegation to the US next week, will meet his counterpart, US Defence Secretary Robert Gates and National Security Advisor (NSA) Gen James Jones during the visit.

Sources said concerns over the military aid to Pakistan, including the recent transfer of advanced F 16 fighters to the country for the ‘war against terror’, would be on top of the agenda for the Defence Minister.

While no pacts or defence deals are to be signed during the visit, the two sides will discuss a variety of issues, including the security situation in the region and the increasing military assertiveness of China.

While the US will discuss the three bilateral defence agreements that it has been pushing for — on communication interoperability, logistics support and geo-spatial cooperation — sources said the Indian side was still not convinced of the need for the pacts.

A US government official said the Defence Ministry as well as the PMO had been given “non papers” on the three pacts but a response from the Indian government was still awaited. The “non papers” had been forwarded by the ministry to the three forces for analysis, sources said.

The Defence Minister’s high-level delegation includes two officers who are expected to take over as service chiefs in the near future — Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Bikram Singh and Commander of the Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) Admiral D K Joshi — besides Director General (Operations) of the Indian Air Force, Air Marshal A K Gogo

F-16s are not part of any aid - they are paid for by Pakistan - so if he's going to raise that issue then he's got his information wrong.

I fear, at this rate India will soon run out of concerns!!:woot::cheesy:

You might as well label these videos as Pakistan because it is quite clear that Pakistan is the one whining about India having a bigger fissile stock.

start eating some meat to curb the serious lack of protien in typical indian skull..Pakistani concerns would fall under "whining" if they were going on every forums and leader hopelessly beating bush about something they cant do anything about. Fortunately for Pakistan right now it can do a lot..including increasing production and stockpile of warheads..thanks to few chinese reactors coming online soon...as of now pakistan is far off from "whining" let alone crying..Pakistan and Pakistanis do not need every assurance in the world to gurantee peace..We like our timid brothers are not afraid to fight even if we are not gonna win...putting up a good fight is very important..lowering your landing gear after being locked by enemy radar is not "self defence"

I'm sorry but it is your information is WRONG. yes, Pakistan pays for F-16, but the money it pays with is most likely come from US military aid, pf which Pakistan is the BIGGEST bilgerant in the WORLD. So it is only right to raise the question why a country under siege by men making weapons from items found in a DIY store and assembled for 50c need MULTI-MILLION, SUPERSONIC, HI-TECH jet fighters? my 2 cents

And btw for all those laughing at vids above ^^^ remember INDIA pays for ALL its weapons from funds IT generates THEMSELVES. AND has a MUCH larger defence budget that is MUCH relatively smaller then their GDP (2.5% compared to 4+ %). Just sayin!

My information IS wrong? Wrong based on the speculation that you're making?

Do you have anything to suggest that I am wrong? Like an article? Because if it was, there's no doubt we'd have heard it time and time again from Indians.

Here's an article to the contrary: Pakistan to buy only 18 F-16s -DAWN - Top Stories; April 23, 2008

Another one: Bush: U.S. to Sell F-16s to Pakistan (washingtonpost.com)

Another one: BBC NEWS | South Asia | US defends Pakistan F-16 jet deal

Another one http://www.expressindia.com/news/fullstory.php?newsid=43959

What is relevant to this topic is the title of these articles and their first sentences. All show that Pakistan is buying the F-16s.

In fact do a google search and you'll come across a lot of such articles.

You are making a LOT of assumptions about the deal.

This has been discussed in another topic in fact. I will take you directly to the relevant page.

An Indian made the same claim you're making. Check out post #24 and 25.

Pakistan under siege? That would have been true a while ago, but no more. More importantly, how is your argument relevant? So since Pakistan has terrorists who know how to make bombs easily, it doesn't need F-16s?

And btw for all those laughing at vids above ^^^ remember INDIA pays for ALL its weapons from funds IT generates THEMSELVES. AND has a MUCH larger defence budget that is MUCH relatively smaller then their GDP (2.5% compared to 4+ %). Just sayin!

Actually the difference in GDP % is much smaller than what you mentioned. It's between 0.5% - 1%. More importantly, again, the relevance of this?

everyone has a right to defend himself and if pakistan is doing it den so be it,i dont see anything wrong with it,there money or not is another question

even if they got the f16's from the money given as aid,its upto them to decide how it is to be used and hw can it serve in the best interest of the nation and for that they have there govt to decide.

u need to take some behavior classes, being an experienced member in the forum u can atleast show ur point without actually bashing n saying pointless n senseless rants,
so do u think ur current nuclear stockpile is not enough to destroy india,if it is then y do u need to make more of it.more material means more processing and storage which is hell a lot expensive..and we unlike our timid brothers jst dont like to fight without any reason at all even we knw we will win..what is fortunate for pakistan and hw can it do a lot,do u mean war on terror is fortunate for pakistan or wht????

This clip says it all..then India talks about easing tension and being friends. Duplicity and hypocrist suits best to India and indians.

And Obama's reply to Anthony.

heee heee huu huuu.... Oke Let me tell one thing....
India is telling that don't buy arms by the money which you are getting as aid(easy money).. but buy arms by the money which Pakistan is earning by the hard work of its people...

But i must accept that GoP was intelligent.. They knew that this kind of aid will come if they join the WoT.. You know right.. Pakistan was not having good weapons or in possession of average weapons before WoT.. even your formidable F-16 were sitting ducks.. you will agree on this for sure.. and USA is not willing to sell anything with ease because of Nukes not even spare parts for F-16...

So GOP has decided to join WoT.. every one will agree that Pakistan could have opted out of WoT but it didnt.. Instead your GOP joined the war... lost lot of its men.. created problems for itself... and GoP is flexing muscle of America as war compensation ...

very nice planning..

Thats why our honorable minister is raising concern... we are damn sure these weapons will be used on us some day.. You know right prevention is better than cure

When words can do it for free, why waste money and weaponry to match?
