As U.S. Leaves Afghanistan, India Reconsiders Iran Policy

Which "Pipeline' are you talking about? Which will go to China?

This one

Pakistan is now openly defying the U.S. on the Iran issue, for example by commencing construction on the gas pipeline between Iran and Pakistan. The pipeline’s potential extension to China is a nightmare scenario for policymakers in New Delhi.

why is this a night mare for new Delhi?

Oh; this 'Pipeline'? Has it even reached Paksitan? Leave alone reaching China......... :what:
Non-Existent things are far from becoming "nightmares". :D

Never trust the snivelling Indians. You never know when they'll stab you in the back.

At least they do not take US$ 20 billion and then back stab. Well India never asked for money to fight against terrorist..and neither was Osama found in India. Indias policies towards Iran has always been friendly, they have been buying Iranian oil despite pressure from the USA.

PLENTY!!!
Why do you think that Paksitan gets the itch when India is involved in Afghanistan?

Plenty like what? as for india.. well ur trying to turn Afg into a proxy land.. thts why..

Has the construction in Pakistan even started? :P
BTW, the Iranian end has not reached the border.

The construction on the iranian side has been completed and while the its under construction in Pakistan:

In truth nobody gives a damn about Pakistan in International Community anymore. In the eyes of the world it has lost it's self respect and position and is in the same boat as North Korea , Syria and Somalia. Today Pakistan's only bargaining chip is Terrorist activity which they used to use for protection money from USA, Afghanistan. But as was shown by recent border clashes Afghans are fed up of this attitude.

Undoubtedly India and China are rising great powers in the world. Pakistan cannot bear this and resorts to "asymmetric" assets for the Indian stakeholders. After China's investment of 3bn$ , India has contributed 2 bn$ to Afghanistan. I have hope in Nawaz Sharif who is sensible and forward thinking but will the Army lobby and ISI - Taliban nexus allow it?

One can pass sweeping remarks directly stemmed from heart, better to use top floor of the human body before spewing venom.

How many foreign embassies are in NK , Somalia & Syria? Pakistan is having more than 100 of them in Islamabad.
What is the combined GDP and foreign trade of these three countries (The GDP of Pakistan is 250+ B $ (Nominal) and foreign trade 70b$).
Pakistan's bargaining chip stretched from central Asia to South & West Asia.
Member of UNSC (non permanent).
Net exporter of food grains.
many more......

No indian has answered me yet.. what influence does Iran have over Afghanistan?

Amazed, though having 12k post but little knowledge.
U know I am sure.... Never mind... I will tell u the facts as u ask them,.
1. THe relations between GoP and GoA isnt great much like Hugging and kissing. Hope u know that. If not see links in net.
2. Affghanistan is a land locked country. It should get its import through Pakistan or Afghanistan.
3. Pakistan western border, isnt exactly safe like a bank. Lots of attack take place of NATO's convoy's already.
4. In future, any strained relationship, Pakistan might stop transit through its border.
5. So the development of Chabahar port, and road and rail connectivity with Iraninans gain prominence.
6. It can provide Afghanistan with less cost for Oil , if needed.
7. It provides a way for Iran and India with access to Afghanistan and Central Asian markets.
8. Iran does not send terrorist to Afghanistan.
9. Due to Iran's anti US and Israel policies, there is a chance, that GoA will wish good governance with Iranians, to quell Taliban support. Just to show Afghanistan govt is stronger in Public eyes.

And pak was doing well in 1960s. During the 1960s, Karachi was seen as an economic role model around the world. Many countries sought to emulate Pakistan's economic planning strategy and one of them, South Korea, copied the city's second "Five-Year Plan" and World Financial Centre in Seoul is designed and modeled after Karachi.

How this so called failed state has conducted the most free & fare election of its history?
Still you cannot justify putting Pakistan in the league of NK, Syria & Somalia...
To sum up the whole argument; Pakistan is neither isolated nor failed nation.

Intra Muslim world relations are not as easy as you spelled; Iran being Shiet country has very limited influence inside Afghanistan. The significant influence Iran can exert is on fellow Hazara Shiets that are concentrated in central part of Afghanistan mainly in Saraipol and Daykundi, to reach them Iran has to cross whole Pakhtun belt. Iran has very little influence on Sunnite Tajiks, uzbeks and Turkmens leave apart Pakhtuns.

On the other hand Pakistan does not see Hamid Karzai and his government as a foreseeable ruler of Afghanistan after US withdrawal/drawdown. Any agreement signed by Karzai whether in Tehran or in New Delhi would not have any serious implication on future of Afghanistan.

The shiet –Sunnite devide in the greater Middle East is much deeper and wide than the Ethnic differences amongst the different Muslim groups inside and outside Afghanistan. As is said above, in any post 2014 scenario the role of Iran would not be major troubleshooter it can only be little troublemaker for Taliban that can be managed with the help of Pakistan.

No. The matter is many people in Muslim world does see Iran , as a symbol against Western Imperialism. That might work in their favour?

Son, I understand your patriotism but the internet is not the right place to show it. Regarding your concerns don't shove it into a third party like India. That's a UN list BTW , Pakistan in 1960s was a good investment not today. The proof lies above you.
