At least 5-6 fighter squadrons must be inducted': Air Chief Marshal Vivek Ram Chaudhari

15 years is not enough when you consider the general patterns in governance and general lack of skilled workers and lack of industrial investment.

even the most positive pragmatism fails to achieve anything
Pakistan's acquisition strategy is light years ahead of India's.

They should opt for another batch of 83 LCA MK1A

Tejas LCA test pilot Suneet Krishna (who flew thousand hours on Mirage2000) said "take offs are sharper in Tejas Mk1 than mirage2000

TejasMk1 has higher TWR & lower wing loading (leads to better STR & ITR) higher BVR Missile range

Tejas Mk1A gets Uttam AESA radar too

QWIP equipped IR missiles are very difficult to jam
Tejas Mk1 & Tejas Mk1A are slated to receive latest MICA missile of Mirage2000 as well

Tejas_LCA has 1/3rd of Mirage2000 RCS,making it difficult to track & locked.
Has a bigger radar to track f16 types

Plus Mk1 can even take off from demanding Leh hot & high climate with 1.9 ton load

Not many twin engine IAF fighters can take off with 50% load from Leh

Tejas Mk1 reaches the top of its vertical loop in 8 to 8 seconds routinely in air shows, did 8.5 G max till now, slow speed 110 knots, min turning radius under 350 meters

It's zoom climb just after taking off from runway in Bahrain sir show was breath taking

It has DRFM based AESA jammers for self protection, the ELTA 8222WB SPJ is slated to go on board as well

Tejas Mk1 Tejas Mk1A have conical chamber for better lift at all AOAs. Tejas_LCA benefited from Legendary aerodynamics scientist Valluri who set up NAL. He also initiated, studies on composite materials & fly by wire concepts in late 70s far ahead of times.

Over 90 % of TejasMk1 surface & 45 % of its airframe by weight is made of composite . This is highest usage of composites in aircraft of any kind, anywhere in the world. Leading to lowering of aircraft’s weight by 21% and reduced its part count by 40%

Longitudinally unstable Tejas Mk1 has enhanced maneuverability. Tejas_LCA's static margin, i.e. a measure of its instability (hence maneuverability). To recover stability & provide good handling qualities

Tejas Mk 1 & 1A is equipped with a fully redundant quadruplex digital fly-by-wire flight control system (FCS). This FCS is one of the biggest accomplishments of Tejas_LCA program. Its robustness has ensured an accident-free test record of over 4,300 test flights. Since then Tejas Mk1 has completed 10000 hours ( test flight & operational sorties for flying daggers & flying bullets squadron) without any emergency

It's a stupendous reliability parameter fof Tejas_LCA program, especially a green field one with no experience

Tejas Mk1 Tejas Mk1A ITR 30 degrees/sec and a sustained turn rate (STR) of between 15 to 16 degrees /sec second

Why does India even bother to look at the chappy rafaels when they have the might Tejas.

Tejas, LCA (83 MK1A + 40 MK 1)
Rafale MWF (36 in service)
Why buy French crap when you have a great machine like the tejas as per the test pilot in the article above.

When modi cried "if we had rafaels" after PAF bent IAF over on the 27th Feb he was doing a drama for back handers. Corrupt politicians

I'm surprised with Indias timeframe to acquire 5th gen planes. China is their main adversary in the region and they have had tensions of late. Added to that China is far ahead procuring more 5th gen planes or I should say making and India it seems will rely on its shorter legged rafales.

Before that the prototype of Tejas Mk 2 is likely to be ready by 2026 and its mass production would start by 2029. The delivery of its predecessor, Tejas Mark 1A, would start from February 2024. Thereafter, 16 aircraft have to be delivered per year and complete handover is to be completed in 4-5 years. The plane has 43 improvements over the existing version of Tejas.

There is a way to do that - downsizing the military while both through backdoor channels and implicitly lowering the nuclear threshold and response time the battle on the eastern front can be kept tamed while the western side can be handled by a downsized force.

That will require a lot of will and extremely capable military and civilian leadership that simply doesn’t exist in Pakistan
tbh, at this point, whatever security gaps and weaknesses Pakistan has is entirely due to its weak and listless leadership.

Our nation has a type of 'dependency syndrome' where we expect others to do things for us. Basically, the U.S. has to give aid; China has to invest; India has to fail, and so on. There's no mentality for doing things yourself, especially when no one wants to give you anything. Even with the international community being reluctant to dole out aid and loans, our leadership still doesn't get the point (i.e., show real economic turnaround).

Something as simple as a concrete vision (with funding and accountability/controls) to educate and upskill the population to take on factory work (and drive production exports) would probably trigger confidence very quickly. But the "soost" is strong.

The Tejas does not come across as an air superiority fighter, it would be up against the J20, J35s or land based versions. Feels like it's at a disadvantage to me. It's a light fighter India needs something heavier in the 5th gen range.

Employing air power in the Himalayas is a very challenging task. So the scope of employment of air power in war scenarios would no doubt be limited considering the inhospitable terrain involved with heights touching 17,000 feet above the mean sea level testing the limits of human endurance.

Even the reportedly limited air activity by the Chinese in the TAR region needs to be noted especially J11s from airfields across the LAC such as Hotan, Kashgar and Gar Gunsa. Another fighter capable airfield is being developed at Shakche. But regardless of the buildup of the border infrastructure by the adversary the Chinese are handicapped in terms of air power projection such as load and range limitation. Another limitation of course applicable to both sides would be the shrunk radar horizons thanks to the terrain

Here comes the lackey of China 🤣
Pakistan does not need to be the "lackey" of China do slaughter you Indians. We have regularly killed Indians soldiers on the LOC with impunity even when India is the 6x larger country and has the full backing of the US, EU and Russia. We have wiped out thousands of you since 1990s.

Also have a look at this master blast:

2035-2037

Pakistan still has time to breath.

They took 40 years to build a 3rd gen lemon fighter.

It will take them another 100 years to build a 5th gen fighter.

Indians do not have a choice.

US has not offered to sell F-35 to India.

Indians are stuck with expensive 4th gen Rafales.
