Bangladesh navy buys two Ruag Do 228NGs

Detecting oil slicks, controlling borders and fishing, and carrying out environmental research will be enough for the bangladesh navy for now. I would love to see some fighter jets or at least a helicopter gunship for the navy within the next 7 to 8 years

Can anyone provide the specifications of the Donier?

Here are the specs. of the HAL built Dorniers for the IN and ICG: So far 100 aircraft have been made.
Engine: Two AlliedSignal TPE331-5-252D engines rated at 578.7 kW (776 shp). Each engine has a four blade, constant speed, fully feathering, reversible pitch, metal propeller.

Maximum Speed: 255 knots (472 km/h; 293 mph)

Service Ceiling: 28,000 ft. (8535 meters)

Maximum Range: 1320 nautical miles (2445 km; 1519 miles)

Armament: Two inboard and two outboard pylons can carry an array of external stores, including gun pods, rockets, short-range anti-ship missiles and even SAR pods. The IN Dorniers reportedly carry AShMs of an unspecified type.

Maximum External Stores Load: 2201 kg. (4852 lb.)

Self Defence: A media report, dated 05 May 2007, stated that EAGLE Electronic Support Measures (ESM) systems have been fitted on-board and eight more systems have been ordered. The system is an indigenous development by the Defence Electronics Research Laboratory (DLRL).

Dunno if the BD aircraft has different specs. But considering that Ruag will put this together with airframe components from the HAL production line at Kanpur, its likely to be the same. The MR search radar maybe different though, since the original aircraft in the 1980s had a Bendix radar, then later a BEL/ELTA JV produced a MR radar which is fitted in a fairing below the aircraft belly making it a very good eye-in-the-sky. Can't see that in the Ruag pic though so it may be the default radar in the nose.

Hmm thats interesting. It even carries short range anti-ship missile?

Cant BD Navy upgrade it or something, in case we dont have that capability?

Cheers!!!

The point is the deal was Between BD navy
and Ruag Aviation.

and exclusivly produce by only HAL...

Guys chill...its nothing that serious we should bang our head on.

Can anyone provide the specifications of the Donier?

Its good to see that navy is developing its air-wing. Probably, these planes will be stationed in the forward air-base in Chittagong, keeping an eye on the maritime boundary. We had Agusta Westland before and were supposed to have Z-9 Harbins, which was supposed to come from the frigates we were supposed to buy from China.

Anyone has any update on that?

shouldn't be a reason to bang the heads ..

Nice. Didnt know that this plane can do all this stuff. I think bangladesh military engineers can fit short range anti ship missiles into these planes if india or germany (whoever making them) does not put them inside

Are you guys serious? Fitting missiles and pods
in this craft seems rather like fixing jets in rickshaws!

Lol, we should give it a try...if it can carry, why not.

Who gave the guarantee that Burmese ships might not suddenly fire at it some day?

Plus our engineers get to implement some new modification if that suits.

Cheers!!!

What are you talking about, man? Who wants to know about your Nokia, your HP, or your shoes. Where did they come from?
Why are you going around some bush?

Nokia made in China are cheap and so it is a common mobile for all levels of society. I presume it is important to be a part of the proletariat and one has to make much of it.

Maybe it was being conveyed that Dorniers are also as cheap and a dime to a dozen and very suitable for the pocket.

Do 228NG well under way – Handover of the first aircraft to Japanese customer and order for the German Navy

The first RUAG aircraft, the Do 228NG (New Generation) S/N 8300, was handed over today in Oberpfaffenhofen to the Japanese customer New Central Airservice (NCA). At the same time, RUAG announced to build a Do 228NG Special Mission aircraft. Customer is the German Federal Office of Defense Technology and Procurement (BWB) which on behalf of the German Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development has ordered a Do 228NG. The specially equipped aircraft is planned to be used for oil pollution control above the German North and Baltic Seas......

The aircraft equipment includes an advanced glass cockpit with 4-panel display to provide flight, navigation, engine and surveillance data. New digital navigation and communication systems, an airborne collision avoidance system ACAS II, a terrain awareness and warning system TAWS, digital flight data recorders CVR and FDR as well as an advanced emergency locator transmitter ELT are standard equipment. A HF and a SATCOM system complete the configuration. For special mission operations customized navigation and communication instruments as well as additional sensors such as SAR capable weather radar are used. Also, the 5-blade composite propellers enhance fuel economy and reduce aircraft noise.

To enhance detection of oil slicks, the Do 228NG Special Mission version gets new efficient sensors, among others a side-looking airborne radar SLAR, colour line and IR/UV line scanners as well as an electro-optical sensor. The mission equipment is completed by an advanced operator workstation enabling ergonomic control of the sensors, with editing and display of all collected data. The SATCOM system allows in-flight transmittal of these data to other mission forces......

Fuselage, wings and tail unit are manufactured by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) in Kanpur (India) and transported to Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich where RUAG Aviation carries out aircraft final assembly, integration of customized equipment, product conformity inspection and aircraft delivery.

Operative word - Customised.

Uttering jibberish is a sign
of mental disorder.

It does not suit someone who drives a Matiz.

It is a necessary requirement for our navy as the maritime
range frequently endeavors incidents where such spills occur.
Wonder if this was asked for. What is the range of this SLAR
does anyone know?

Difficult to understand what you write since the words are joined and the spellings are rather curious and sometimes beyond deciphering.

Matiz was just one of the cars. And it was good.

I am an automobile aficionado!

Not happy with your Daewoo bus?

Why did you buy it then?

Change occurs in direct proportion to dissatisfaction, but dissatisfaction never changes.

Bangladesh Navy was negotiating for CN-235..... but they later decided to go for Ruag Do 228NGs. maybe limited Budget is the cause.

a cn-235 of malaysian army.....
