Damn, Bangladesh tripled their electricity generation in last decade. Pakistan barely increased 30-40%.

Remittances, exports etc meant BD government had much more room to spend on infrastructure without going to IMF every 3 years. Its also good to note that Bangladesh have left west bengal in dust.

To be fair, Bangladesh has had very low generation at the beginning of last decade. We actually had terrible electricity shortage everywhere. I mean just look at 2010 for both BD and WB. Even though BD is far more populous, WB generated more electricity. Now it's just that BD started electricity push as it had a massive deficit. While in the case of Pakistan, it has always been high. So it isn't a surprise that there is no drive to build more power stations and generate more electricity.

Pakistan had chronic shortages starting in 2008. As you can see production barely increased 1% in 5 years between 2009-2013. Its only when CPEC came then things started to change.

Because of terrorism and low growth no foreign investment in all those years till CPEC.

I don’t trust this data at all . Recent BBS data are manipulated by some party to be used politically .

I think it would be fair to say that Bangladesh has the best performing economy in South Asia for the last 5 or so years. Congrats Bangladeshis! May your economic success be emulated by your south asian counterparts!

What is interesting is how well the currency rates reflect the economic situation of our countries. For example, 1 Indian Rupee = 1.68 Bangladeshi Taka in 10 Februrary 2012. Today 1 Indian Rupee = 1.13 Bangladeshi taka. 1 Pakistani Rupee = 0.76 Bangladeshi Taka in 1 December 2017. Today 1 Pakistani Rupee = 0.5 Bangladeshi taka
