BREAKING : Canada chooses to buy F-35 fighter jet, will begin talks with Lockheed Martin

These are the benefits without Canadian government makes the purchase.

Many Canadian companies develop systems for the F-35.

110 Canadian companies have already been awarded contracts and have contributed to the development and production of the F-35.

Smart people bought Western, especially US, defence company stocks as soon as Putin invaded Europe.

This war was 'needed' after Afghanistan withdrawal.

Mission Accomplished.

Why is it so surprising when another member of the 5 eye alliance nation chooses F-35?

It is between F-35, F-15, F16, F-18 or F-35?

Who will Canada fight with these Fighter jets ? Polar bears or Global Warming ? Canada got no enemies...

Too little too late decision by PM Just-aTurd although the damage he has caused this nation is far greater than can be measured in dollars.

Canada should adapt a policy like Mexico, not heavily spending on major weapons for its military.

Who are Canada's enemy and if it purchases weapons like F35 does it make it more powerful than superpower USA ?

It’s also basically a new era for Canadian airforce. Canadas CF-18 are basically obsolete. This just made us from an average to weak Air Force to one of the best in the world one delivered. It’s game changer for Canada’s defence. The Arctic is melting and soon many companies will be there to extract resources and cuz of new shipping lanes. Canada needs to have a strong defence because in Arctic Russia claims our areas, we have some island disputes with Greenland and our closest ally usa doesn’t recognize the waters between our islands as Canadian waters rather intentional waters. Canada needs a strong defence and this is a game changer which will allow us to protect our sovereignty in the north.

Also it’s proud Canadian moment because our pm finally made a good decision in his life time 😂

It’s surprising our PM and parliament even decided to buy fighters looool. Any Canadian knows how Canada is when it comes to defence especially liberals 😂.
Also F-18 was a good option too since we operate many already and we were also offered many European fighters like Gripen with many perks like local production.
At first it even seemed like Canada wasn’t interested in F-35 and at time it even hinted at going for F-18 over F-35 so it’s surprising that after more than a decade if wait we’ve finally decided on F-35.

RIP CF-105
It would I have been a beast if made.
20 February forever remains black day in Canadian aviation history.

How is that a proud Canadian moment?! F-35 isn't made in Canada!
Several aerospace companies from US have significant investments in Canada. That includes engine maker Pratt & Whitney, whose components could be locally produced by the Canadian entity. Basically, this deal would create jobs in Canada since Canadian and American economies are integrated.

Did you really think that Trudeau would say NO to Biden? They are practically one country in terms of economics, foreign relations and defense pacts. Not to mention they both share common culture, language and heritage.

Mexico is not an Anglophone country - they have their reasons to keep their defense budget limited to fighting drug cartels and narco terrorism.
