Gen Kayani inaugurates annual sports day for war-wounded soldiers


RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Ashfaq Parvez Kiyani on Saturday visited Armed Forces Institute of Rehabilitation Medicine (AFIRM) Rawalpindi and inaugurated the 3rd

Annual Sports Day organised for officers and soldiers wounded in operations, at a specially designed sports centre here within the institution.

Amid moving scenes during the conduct of various sports events, the army chief appreciated the courage and determination of the wounded soldiers that has been instrumental in integrating them in the society as useful citizens once again.

“There can’t be a sacrifice for the motherland more than losing one’s life or precious limbs,” said an ISPR press release.

During his visit to AFIRM, the COAS also appreciated the standard of facilities and care provided by a team of dedicated doctors and paramedical staff of AFIRM and praised their efforts in helping all military personnel with their rehabilitation.

Earlier, on arrival, the COAS was received by Lieutenant General Azhar Rashid, Surgeon General and Major General Akhtar Waheed, Commandant AFIRM. app

I'd say definitely planned.

Remember that COAS also visited Saudia, Nawaz Sharif also...and now this...Mush also had contact with the Arabs before coming back...koi khichri pak rahi hai.

On Tuesday, Kayani briefed the newly sworn-in interim Prime Minister Justice (retired) Mir Hazar Khan Khoso at the Prime Minister’s House in Islamabad, where Kayani assured him that the army will provide security during polls. @nuclearpak; you overlooked le 'brice'. Nothing like the brinces who can put a brice on anything or anybody.

Chief of Army Staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani visited Sialkot Garrison, today.
COAS was briefed about the progress of validation process of the concept of Territorial Forces. This concept is aimed at improving the mobilization and administration of second line forces and reserves in the event of war or a national emergency. It is part of the ongoing restructuring of the Army, initiated on directives of the COAS, with a view to improve the Army’s operational effectiveness as well as economy and efficiency of administration.
During interaction with the local youth, recruited as Territorial Force, COAS lauded the sacrifices of people of Sialkot during previous wars. He termed people's support to the Army vital for handling any crisis situation.
Earlier, on arrival, COAS was received by Commander Gujranwala Corps, Lieutenant General Muzzammil Hussain.
 
Kayani urges ISAF to help Pak check cross border attacks from inside Afghanistan

Chief of Army Staff, Pakistan Army, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and Commander International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) General Joseph F. Dunford met on Monday as part of the continuing tri-partite commission effort to strengthen military-to-military cooperation and regional stability. This was General Dunford's first visit to Pakistan in his official capacity as ISAF Commander.

Placing a high priority on the ISAF-Pakistan relationship, General Dunford had previously met with General Kayani in the days preceding his assumption of command in February, said an ISPR press release.
During the session Monday, the two military leaders discussed a variety of issues related to strengthening cooperation and pressuring militants who threaten security along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
General Kayani reiterated Pakistan's stance and desire for peaceful, stable and united Afghanistan and the need for a successful Afghan-owned-Afghan-led peace process.
He emphasized the need to continue supporting all efforts to bring peace in Pak-Afghan border region.
He urged ISAF to help Pakistan check cross border attacks launched from inside Afghanistan.
"The Pakistani, the Afghans and the international community all desire peace and security in the region.
These meetings are important to achieving that goal as we continue to explore ways to expand our relationship", General Dunford said.
