I am not from India, and the discussion is will China be the next greatest country in the world,, and my answer is NO,,, India will be the next greatest country in the world...Thats my opinon and I am sticking to it...you might want to learn to speak Hindu or what ever they speak in India,, might do you better then Chinese.

In India .. we mostly speak Hinglish (lol)... There are more then 12 Officially recognized languages in India.. I am in Bangalore where Kannada is the official language (which i dont as i am from North..) ..so we all speak English .. obviously..with Indian accent.
Most of the sign boards are in English. Even a Auto Rickshaw driver Or Bus Drivers speak English ..in South.

As far as Chinese people are concerned .. i work with them as i am a PM for a global MNC and have team in China also ..with whom we interact.. they all speak English..But with few of them it will be hard to understand, They all are learning English..In schools in China .. English is subject now and parents are keen to teach their kids English there.. My Chinese counterpart told me one day during a chat :)

The reason I belive China wont be a major power is I spent a great deal of time in the USSR back in the early 80s,,,,and the conclusion I reached is communism just dont work effeciently enought to survive long term and the stress of the changes China will have to do through are going to cause it a great deal of difficulty...there is so much pent up demand in China that it will be able to have a good economy for a while,,, but as half capitalist and half communist I think it may tear apart....and that will leave India with its massive population in the lead, China is having a lot of problems right now that never reach the international news because of censorship...that does not mean I hate China or have any great love for India,,, that just the way I see it... I dont take it personally...I am not emotionally involved.
1、USSR was a major power,no matter what conclusion you reached.

2、China is not like USSR,though they are both communism nations.just like Saudi Arabia,Turkey,Pak and Iran are all muslim nations.but they are different.

Update your mind, man.
1980s.... so out...:bunny:
Less to say the diff b/w China and USSR...

china is going to be the biggest power the world has seen.it's because of the communism they followed.i see socialism as the most pure of all the ways of governing a republic...as it stimulates growth from the base to the apex and not the other way round...india is also a part socialist country like china...in ways we've follwed china along the course of our history...only we've taken the harder part of being a democracy of a billion people...with the kind of literacy we had in 1947....being a democratic rpeublic was always going to be difficult.....it was like removing the teacher from a stuffed classroom of 6yr olds...i see promise in asia.

Chinese have determination to study all superior knowledge, tech and culture
from all the world. But we don't lose ourself

India even lost their own monther tongue,
You set english as your offcial language,
how pitty you are!

that doesnt make sense...is it just the chinese who seek advancement?
what do you mean by losing yourselves?
i speak in hindi...and so do most north-indians...but english has helped us to unite the country which speaks in more than a hundred different languages.the people of south-india dont speak hindi...so english acts as a common medium.hindi channels have the largest viewership in india...and the hindi newspapers have the largest coverage...i can speak hindi...urdu sanskrit...bengali...and dont use a translator to write in english...or are you out in the mood to abuse india?

Hongkong also had been colony of British,
But English never been Hongkong people's first language.
It is the life-force of Chinese Culture
We learn foreign just as a tool

there is a serious problem in India that the gab between poor and rich is too large.
larger than china.

there are just tow languages in china mandarin and cantonese...isnt that right?
so you dont need another language to unite your people...you talk as if we've abandon our language...our national anthem is in bengali...and not hindi...we have like 23 official languages...english has wide spread usage because of the ease it brings to cross-country communication...our official documents are done in hindi.
