China, Pakistan air forces launch joint training exercise

BEIJING, Sept. 8 -- The air forces of China and Pakistanbegan joint training exercises in China on Thursday.

China has dispatched J-11 fighters, JH-7 fighter-bombers, KJ-200 AWACS aircraft and ground forces including surface-to-air missile and radar troops, said Shen Jinke, spokesperson for the People's Liberation ArmyAir Force, adding the Chinese navy's aviation troops also participated in the training.

Pakistan has sent JF-17 Thunder fighter jets and early warning aircraft to join the exercise, named "Shaheen VI," which will run until Sept. 27, Shen said.

"To build a world-class air force, we need to learn from foreign armies and improve our capability to complete multiple tasks," said Shen, adding the Chinese air force will increase international exchanges and sharpen its combat effectiveness.

The "Shaheen" joint training was launched by the Chinese and Pakistani air forces in March 2011.

PAKISTAN AIR FORCE, CHINA'S PEOPLE'S LIBERATION ARMY AIR FORCE START JOINT EXERCISE IN CHINA

Pakistan and China will also hold a joint navy exercise and a joint army training for counter terrorism.

Pakistan Air Force and People's Liberation Army Air Force of China Thursday started a joint exercise in China.

Official sources told APP, that PAF, PLA Air Force joint exercise commences today on 7th September, which is celebrated as Air Force Day to commemorate PAF successful air battle against Indian Air Forces.

Meanwhile, at the end of this year, Pakistan and China will hold a joint navy exercise and a joint army training for counter terrorism.

Hundreds of soldiers will take part in these exercises and interact with each others. The joint training of both the armies will continue nearly 10 weeks.

Unlikely. The Chinese have the j-10 for just that. The latest j-10s are on par with the f-16 blk 52s, if not better (at least on paper), while only being slightly more expensive than the jf-17. Simply put, the Chinese have a better option, so inducting the thunder wouldn't just be a redundancy, but a slight step back.
