What's new

China Second lowest in Asia-Pacific in English Proficiency.

Yeah right.

Your entire Government system was copied from the British parliament, including the use of English in official communication and inter-state interactions.

What is Communism, German-Russian copy. ;)

Our system has not been Communism for 30 years. We had market reforms in 1978.

Our system is called "Socialism with Chinese characteristics", which Western observers label as State Capitalism.

India though, the system is copied pretty much directly from the British Parliament, and you guys even use English in Government and state to state communication.

If the Tamil Nadu Government wanted to communicate with the West Bengal Government, they would use English. If an Indian Tamil citizen and an Indian Bengali citizen want to communicate, they use English.

In China, all province to province and Government communication takes place in Chinese, and when Chinese want to talk to people from other regions of China, we use Chinese.

Central government uses both Hindi and English states uses their own languages and all over India three languages are used.

At the end of the day your communist system is western copy, even the communist party in China was founded with the help of Soviets and even the free market ecomony and banking system is western copy. :cheesy:

LOL, when Manmohan Singh addresses the Indian nation, he speaks in ENGLISH.

PM ( prime minister manmohan singh ) addresses nation on Mumbai terror attack 2008 - YouTube

-------------------------

Have you ever seen Hu Jintao speaking English? As far as I know he hasn't spoken any at all, let alone using it to address the nation!

The 18th National Congress is occurring right now as we speak, and not a single one of them is speaking English. Western media has to translate everything.

He is not addressing "other countries" though?

He is addressing INDIA on the eve of a national emergency (Mumbai attacks), and he uses English to talk to his fellow Indians.

Generally, English is used only to communicate between non-hindi speaker states. Constitutionally and technically, Hindi speaker state can communicate with any other state in Hindi(except for tamil nadu, communication with this state will be done by keeping Union govt in center).

So if West Bengal govt wants to communicate with Tamil Nadu, it is not compulsory for them to communicate in English. Same applies to citizens.

He is not addressing "other countries" though. :P

his mother tongue is not Hindi. In emergency period when you are addressing nation, you can not take risk of using wrong words. If you really want to here him addressing nation in hindi, see the ceremony of 15 august every year, he never speak english during address to nation on 15 august or 16 January

this is one of the most recent address to nation. play it and find in which language it is!!

or just type "Manmohan address to nation" on youtube and play any of the given videos. you will find the answer.

Because both languages are used by Central Government. I always see your ministers or businessmen with a translator.

Look at the article in the OP and you will get your answer.

Sure, it's good to learn new languages. But there is a difference between knowing other languages, and having those other languages as your de-facto language of Government and official communication.

What about your Hongkong and Macau.:lol: English got deeply penetrated in India, it was not possible to remove it but never massively westernized our country like Chinese

Hong Kong and Macau are two tiny islands. China itself was never colonized.

And the Chief Executive of HK uses Chinese to address his fellow citizens as well. Not English like Manmohan Singh does.

In Macau, I heard only Cantonese and Portuguese are used officially and Standard Mandarin is not allowed. Is that same in Hongkong. Yes China was not colonised because your monarchy was so weak and allowed them to plunder China.

Our Prime Minister's mother tongue is Punjabi, he speak Punjabi in home state. And PM adresses the nation in 2 languages Hindi-English, he can't use Punjabi to address the nation.
