Chinese cities are beautiful but they look very maintenance intensive at the same time.
Would prefer if India went for construction and landscaping that minimises maintenance requirements. Would reduce expenditure and we aren't good with maintenance either :D

Good, but as the indian said, behind the wall, slum!! Hehe.

There is nothing wrong with having a slum in a city. Slums in big cities are a sign of progress as well as migration of population.
But there is something wrong when you try to hide it with a curtain of a big cities with their elaborate infra and a system called hukou

all infrastructure needs maintenance. maintenance also creates jobs. the degree required depends strongly on the quality of the population. if your people throw trash everywhere and go to bathroom on the floor, then even 1000 janitors is not enough. but if people are clean and nice, then maybe 1 is enough.

a rural hukou lets you own physical land though you cannot sell it freely, while an urban hukou lets you only own the right of use to that land.

the source dosent give the information of from what organization the ranking was rated?

1. Hong Kong, China

Hong Kong is number 1 on my list for many reasons: Hong Kong has a huge number of buildings over 200 meters high.

this sentence shows that the so called ranking is a personal opinion.

Lovely Pics...Simply Awesome...

Fruits of Hard work....

Sometimes i feel like it is better to have communist gov. like China then corrupt Leaders of democracy.Just my Thought!

One size doesn't fit all. Chinese model is suited to China. Some aspects of it may be useful to others but nobody should copy China. This is also the Chinese governments' official position as well. There are far fewer ideologues in China than in the West. Chinese communist party is communist in name only. What matters is strong leadership with a vision, and a population willing to work hard for it. East Asian societies with a Confusian tradition tend to value the collective more more the individual. With its religous ,cultural diversity and all, India has to find its own model.

collective over individual is the essence of socialism and communism.

I wasnt talking about bridges and roads. I was talking about hedges and gardens.
I would rather have my government plant trees on the median than put some garden on it. Long term, it can reduce government expenditure. Government can use the money to do something more meaningful. I see a lot of gardens in Singapore. But I dont see any point why so many gardens should be there in the first place. How does it help the local people? The only reason I see is to show off a beautiful city to foreigners. But then again, what is the point?:bounce::bounce::bounce::bounce:

This is one of the reasons I appreciate cold war Russia more than the cold war US in terms of military technology. Both had the same level of tech but the Russians did it without too much glitz.
