The Olympic women's badminton tournament descended into farce last night as four pairs all appeared to try to lose their matches.
A pair from China, two from South Korea and another from Indonesia all attempted to throw their games in order to secure a favorable draw in the next round.
There were boos from the at Wembley Arena crowd as the world class athletes repeatedly put serves into the net and failed to return simple shots on an embarrassing evening for the sport.
The Badminton World Federation has now launched disciplinary proceedings.

And where are you Indians on the medal table?

It is not about medals - it is about playing fair. That's how the civilized world see the Olympics. The rower from Niger who started rowing three months ago and finished last is a tribute to the Olympics. Chinese "athletes" showed the world the lack of sportsman spirit.

all top seed athletes chose to save energy in the preliminaries, many of them just relax and let others pass them when about reaching the finish line, that's a common strategy by all top athletes.by doing that they can save their energy for the final and can also puzzle their arch rival competitors, your country should really attend more sports event to find that out.

Instead of discussing the topic in motion, India has again been dragged into these kind of threads. Better explain the behavior and sportsmanship of the player rather than bringing us into it. Defend your case rather than taking cheap and offtopic shots.

what has the chinese match fixing to do with India's medals tally ??

LOL - but you see in the Chinese scheme of things it is winning that is important. In the civilized world, it not just winning but how you win.

Now you think about it, they're probably trying to throw their matches to win money, but both sides were betting on the other to win.

LOL - really? In Badminton? Perhaps you have some source to back up this ridiculous assertion of yours. Some sports study or survey which shows that you are not lying.

is such thing has happened before?

BTW there should be investigation and if these players are found guilty, should be fined

I m all for this, the best players should get the best medals.if we meet in the final, that only shows we are the best in the world,if we are beaten and can not meet in the final, that shows some other players are better than us,that's very simple.

Dodging the question about Chinese player. The thread is on Chinese players not on Indian. BTW pathetic words are being used from all sides, where are the MODs.:undecided:

Usual Chinese Ethics.

What's the Big Deal?
