This is the reason you support west? The west had been bullying Russia for many years by using their economic and soft power. In another word, the west has waged soft war to Russia long ago. Russia doesn't have the economic power so it has to strike back by hard war. Do not think soft war is less lethal. Cambodia is indeed much weaker than Ukraine. Good luck for Vietnam. But it doesn't mean instigating hatred between two neighbour countries through economic and soft power should not be condemned and punished.

Vietnam remains neutral, low key pro-Russia on this one.
In fact, Vietnam will be hurt if Russia gets weaker because Russia is actually one powers that can balance out the power in East Asia, along with Japan (hence Vietnam's solidarity with both countries).

The damages and sufferings the japanese and brits inflicted on chinese and china are much more serious, profound, everlasting and unforgivable even though russians took some chinese lands. If like one robber took away some like 10% of your possessions while the others robbers not only took away your money but also wanted to kill you and in the process seriously wounding you, who do you think is more bad ? China paid lots money to japan and brits as the results of losing wars and they also looted many treasures of china. You can tell why chinese hated the japanese and brits.

From our perspective, in comparison to our "traditional rivals" the chinese and cambodian and thailand, the japanese has only invaded and occupied Vietnam one time, and it actually played a role in us getting independent from the French.

Meanwhile, I distinctly remember that during the Sino-Soviet split, China hated the USSR way more than Japan too (China to this day still says the Kurils are japanese territories), so it's definitely a geopolitical thing.
