Zhang Yimou is known for the "artsy" style of filming. Good idea that they hired him for the film.

It's funny back when Zhang Yimou was making movies that were perceived as anti-CCP, they couldn't wait to throw awards at him by the bucket full, now the same guy because he's helped the government on a few projects like the Olympics, gets nothing.


Whatever, I still really like his cinematography.
