Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa and others offered funeral prayers at General Headquarters on Sunday for seven soldiers martyred in an attack in North Waziristan a day earlier, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.

The soldiers were ambushed and came under attack from a compound while an intelligence-based operation in the Ghailani area of North Waziristan was under way. In return fire, the surviving soldiers in the group killed nine attackers.

A group of militants who were reported to have infiltrated from across the border was involved in the attack and apparently hiding in the compound.

The soldiers who embraced martyrdom were identified as Captain Junaid, Havaldar Ameer, Havaldar Asif, Havaldar Naseer, Havaldar Abdul Razzaq, Sepoy Samiullah, and Sepoy Anwar.

Their bodies are being sent to their respective native towns for burial with full military honours.

Below are photographs and details of the martyred soldiers released by ISPR:

5 out of 7 from Gilgit alone.... yet they don't have right to vote.

If that has to do with greater Kashmir cause, then state must pull it's socks and develop GB on war footing, make northerners happy and content that they are looked after by the federation. Infra in North is below par.

It has to be with lumping GB with Kashmir cause, they have little in common. GB have more in common with Chitral and Kohistan in northen KP.

GB should be given separate status of province along with representation in senate and NA.

Cannot happen, it would jeopardize and damage Pakistan's long interests for the Kashmiri struggle through United Nations. Pakistan needs the whole Kashmir issue to be resolved via UN resolutions and the integration of Gilgit-Baltistan as a province would jeopardize such demands. Same reason why India majority-government does not directly control Jammu and Kashmir but rather does it through a coalition government.

But I think it is already a province with a CM but it is not the same...GoP of is one the laziest and incompetent state machinery and it took us 70 years to make FATA a proper part of the federation with all human rights... I hope we can properly integrate GB and make it a full fledge province.

Voting rights won't change the lives of people in GB. These are all long term goals. What needs to be done is for federation to invest heavily in GB, improve their infra, provide basic amenities, job opportunities within GB, make them feel loved and looked after. That's all!

Yaeh, they have own Government with own Budget. They vote and elect own assembly and own PM..and have all rights of Pakistani citizens. Including reserved quota in Jobs and education all over Pakistan
Cant get better than that.

Sir the True Democracy was introduced by the Dictator When he introduced local Head (Chief Executive) elected by elected members of GB. Earlier that post was run by Federally Appointed Bureaucrat was the head and had the power to kick out elected member.
PPP introduced assembly was nothing more then a publicity stunt.
People of GB Demands representations in Federation. They want to Merge with Pakistan and don't want a status like Azad Kashmir.

Most if not all development was done during Dictator time.
During Democracy Zero development in GB but they did give few Govt. Jobs(Teachers).
