Antivirus XP 2008 is a new rogue anti-spyware program that is advertised through Trojans and other malware. It is advertised in the form of fake security alerts and warnings on web sites that state you are infected with malware or are being attacked in some manner. When you click on these ads, it will automatically download the installer for Antivirus XP 2008 and install it on your machine. In some cases, this program is installed without any intervention at all from you.

Once installed, Antivirus XP 2008 will scan your computer and display a variety of security risks found on your computer that can only be removed if you purchase a license of the software. These risks, though, are all fake and are only being displayed to scare you into thinking you are infected and thus purchase their software. Another tactic that Antivirus XP 2008, and the accompanied malware, uses is to change your desktop background to be a message stating you are infected, popups and fake alerts stating your computer is being attacked, and a fake Internet Explorer page that states Google has found your computer to be infected. All of these are further scare tactics and should be ignored.

How to remove Antivirus XP 2008 (Uninstall Instructions)

when i turned on the computer it's written

Warning!

Spyware detected on your computer

Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer.

what am I supposed to do to get rid of it?

It means your PC is under threat, you need to download anti virus software like Enigma suggested.
I can recommend AVG 8.0 (latest version), you can download it for free from the net, make sure you get the 8.0 version.

1 out of 1000 websites and pages on the net is infected with virus including Trojans, those are very difficult to revome once your PC is infected.

Download antivirus asap, its a must!
I myself use OneCare specially developped by Morcosoft for Vista users.

When i click on Favorites I see the following:
1. Add to favorites
2. Organize favorites

It was fine until Friday, but on Monday morning when I logged in I wasn't able to see all that was saved  in favorites, pls help?

The first thing to do is STOP what your doing. You need to be very careful when dealing with this problem. If you are getting a popup that says “Warning spyware detected on your computer” and then provides a link to spyware program DO NOT click on it. This is actually a trick used by various spyware, malware, and adware programs to simply infest your computer with MORE spyware.
If the message you are getting gives you more generic advice like “install an anti virus or spyware remover to clean up your computer” it is probably a legitimate threat.
How did you get spyware on your computer? There could be a myriad of reasons.
You recently downloaded shareware, freeware, or some other low cost program. A lot of these programs are “free” for a reason, the developers are paid to place spyware in it to steal information and recoup the cost of creating the software.
You downloaded music or other files through peer to peer or other shared networks.
You visited an untrustworthy website that hijacked your browser. A lot of “free giveaway websites, pornographic, and even song lyric websites are loaded with spyware. Without some sort of protection they can easily infect your computer.

So the question becomes what can I do about it? The first thing I recommend is do NOT try to fix the problem yourself. A lot of these files are deeply embedded and just removing a couple malevolent programs does not mean you are removing the spyware in it’s entirety.
I also do not recommend this action because you might inadvertently delete important registry or system files which could potentially corrupt your operating system. A good spyware detector will give you detailed analysis of what the threats are so you can be certain you aren’t deleting any files you actually need.

I use Nortons 360 it runs in the back ground and catches almost all problems but thats my preference you can use what ever software you like.

You can also do the same thing by entering the URL...in the Start Menu....Run Command or Open My Computer and type the web address (URL) on the top address bar there you will get the page display......When you browse My Computer basically it is also a Browser same like Web.

My computer takes too long to start
The operating system on my computer is windows 7. When I turn on the computer it takes so long to get to the desktop page. When it finally gets there, I then click on Internet Explorer icon, & once again it takes so long for my homepage to open. Once it opens, it works fine from then on. My question is why does it take so long in the beginning?
