Crashed Pakistani UAV was 'on experimental flight'

CH-4 Specs are really impressive. 35hr endurance, 20km target recognition, 18km targeting range

"Two tests were conducted, one with the current version of the aircraft, the second with upgraded electroptical payload. The new EO ball is now fully upgraded, visual light camera upgraded to 1080p from analog and a 20km target recognition range, FLIR now has continuous zoom and 18km target range, new servo control and target tracking system, added integrated inertial guidance, auto focusing and image enhancing systems. CH4 is quoted to have a take off weight of 1300kg, payload 345kg, ceiling 4000m, and a 35 hours endurance. "

Wing loong is in fact better than CH series. Wing loong is officially chosen by PLAAF as its main drone. It flies faster and Kazshanstan , UAE, Saudi and including PAF has indicted Wing loong as it UCAV. Just one crashed doesn't make it a bad plane. Maybe the operator is not very familiar with the operating? Fact is, wing loong is a good product recognised by its buyer and its exported to few countries and deploy by PLAAF proves something.

Wing Loong looks far better than CH-4

Now it is for sure that Wing Loong 2 have been inducted by PAF, that's why IAF is pussing toward the induction of superior MQ-9 Reaper from USA.

It poses no whatsoever threat to India, Why would India be Pushing for anything similar. If anything we need more MALE UAV, than Ucavs

You may be right but don't you feel, India is lagging in UAV wrt to China and even with Pakistan, as she is not giving much needed attention in this domain.

I think that the crashed drone is indeed Wing Loong 1 and it was surely not a test flight. Media also reported that it was on a training mission 'Tarbiyati Parvaaz' and that info can only be given by the ISPR/Relevant authority. And i believe being a UCAV it's not operated by PAF rather under PA.:-)

This picture is a US drone which crashed in Afghanistan, its an old pic

It is quite unfortunate, the bottom line remains that India's focus is more on other areas such as ABM, Shipyards, BM's. Areas such as aviation, armor, optics, small arms, are neglected. This what happens when you do not have a dedicated DoD.

With regards to your posts on Inda's UAV program you should know that India has already ordered & finalized a deal for IAI Eitan UCAVs back in October 2015, with deliveries 12 month after Signing(October 2016 onwards)

Eitan has a payload of 1200kg compared to 200 kg of Wing Loong and 100 kg of CH-3 and a much longer endurance and range too.
It extremely over priced developed decade ago. 35 million a piece. Instead India buy US Reaper , it endure almost same payload and much more stable platform.

even so, given India's threat matrix, UCAV's in it's current form imo are a low priority for India.

We are not discussing India's programs here. Please take this elsewhere.
