‘Decreased’ CPEC cost

This pretty much defines the CPEC, BRI, "New Silk Route" business model. " These projects have always been about exporting extra capacity that China had built for its infrastructure boom. Good business plan, for China that is

Why should Pakistan be concerned at China's business plan? You think the Chinese are investing billions of dollars to provide charity in Pakistan?

Stop acting like a little fool.

Trade, business and ventures are all give and take. You get some and you give some. The new government has come in and reviewed some projects. They felt it can be done differently probably to save cost. That is a very good initiative on their part.

LOL As for China reaping benefits from CPEC, Pakistanis fully support this. If our ally can have an economically secure route more power to them. Pakistan is more than willing to facilitate Chinese hunger for trading through our land. If Pakistan gets mega projects and infrastructure in return that is another massive win. This is a massive win win for both sides. The modalities such as cost, scope etc. can always be reviewed and worked out during the projects.

What possible economic activity will be generated to pay back the loan ?

This question is the key to the success of CPEC. CPEC could cost twice as much but be fruitful for us IF we can answer this question.

Pakistani media is immature, it likes to make a big deal about everything. CPEC is not a magic potion, it is China lending money to its own companies to invest in Pakistan to develop infrastructure.

There is some money to be made during the project, ie Pakistani Companies getting contracts to do some of the work, but the real money will be made if we can utilise the infrastructure and create businesses, especially business that export processed goods and services.

In my village in Pakistan in AJK there is opportunity from CPEC too. One of my cousins is a tailor. If he has regular electricity because of the energy projects he can work 8 hours a day instead of 12 and do the same work. If he works 12 hours he can do more work. If he's smart he can start an e-tailoring business.

Currently aunties are buying lawn suits from Pakistan, shipping them to the UK and them begging tailors to stitch them (because there are so few tailors in the UK). Some people are paying tailors in Pakistan to stitch them and those getting stitched dresses shipped to the UK. My own family does this. Some even send clothes from. UK to Pakistan to get stitched and them get them posted back.

If he has a constant supply of electricity, he can hire another tailor or two on a salary, get the UK trade from our village or other local villages, charge the same UK prices (adjust for shipping) and still make a profit. The customer gets her dress on time, he gets a wider customer base. All thanks to a steady electricity supply.

Today he got up to go to work and he doesn't know how many hours of electricity he will have. He doesn't know how much work will get done, when he will be able to deliver, so he can't hire people, he can't guarantee dates, if he has a constant supply of electricity, he can.

That's one example, there could be 200 million others.

Wow! I like this business. Not a single penny flows into the country and they are suddenly in debt. China may be making fool of nations, but it is also their talent to identify one.

You dont realise the risk Chinese took, nobody was ready to set foot in Pakistan let alone invest back then, Chinese did and they got some favours, the energy crisis we had in past is almost history, thanks to it..

Now the situation is Changing due to improved security and energy situation and govt is showing some spine. The govt is already inviting Pakistani companies and other friendly countries to invest in CPEC related projects.

Energy crisis over????. What about the power cuts and load shedding in Karachi and other areas of Pakistan. What about the losses faced by commercial enterprises.

Chinese and Pakistani govts added around 11000MW in last 2 years. There are some problems bcoz of transmission lose, theft, corruption issues resulting in huge losses (nothing to do with Chinese) but things have improved considerably..
