Deployment of THAAD: News & Discussions

RIP japan's nuclear ambitions

Japan shouldn't play with fire, because it gonna eventually backfire themselves.

HQ-19 is Japan Ultimate Nightmare, if Japan dare to Develop Some Kind of Nuclear Weapon. @Nihonjin1051 :-)

Japan is always acting immature when she has a little bit of power on the hands.

However, their military technology including the BM interceptor is completely dependent to the US, and here is the US stance about Japan's intended nuclearization.

Dunno why Nihonjin always tried to convince the PDF Chinese members that Japan should acquire the nuclear weapons, since he has first to convince his US sugar daddy to get the nod.

I don't understand why Japan does not dare to develop some kind of nuclear weapon just because China have HQ-19?

Can HQ-19 intercept Ballistic Missile at a rate of 100%? If Japan does not dare to develop any kind of Nuclear Weapon because China have HQ-19, then should China not dare to develop nuclear weapon because the US have THAAD?

Speeding up our constructions and militarizing them is us doing something. Just be patient and watch the show.
Our responses will be matched by the pace of our construction and militarization. The situation will be very different in a few year's time.

If having weapons is meaningless, then your country would have stopped buying them and pay for your rice instead, Us not using them is more to do with responsibility. Similar applies to our nuclear capabilities. Don't mistake us for not using them for us being afraid to use them. It is simply we do not need to, this does not mean we won't. It all depends on the circumstances.

It is a general rule that if you decide to punish your enemy, punish it so ruthlessly that it would not be able to think of taking a revenge. A wounded enemy might be deadlier than a healthy one because now perhaps it has revenge in its sight.

That explains China's reserve. China needs the perfect excuse to entirely disable an enemy (whatever that enemy is), not simply fire a few slingshots and make the enemy angrier.

With its territorial breach, US did no physical harm to China but, as @Beidou2020 said, simply gave the country an excuse to speed up the development and security efforts. This is actually a desired outcome for us. If we really have to fight, we must fight to such extent that the enemy would not think of taking revenge, at least for the foreseeable future.

Just like how the US did to Japan.

Japan hurt the US in Pearl Harbor, but was not able to disable it.

And the US punished Japan in the harshest terms possible -- that was available at that time.

China is doing the right thing and Machiavelli indeed teaches one or two things.

Chinese talks very loud but when US came near to they artificial islands, they did nothing, Why did not use your ships to escort US off the islands? Building weapons is meaningless if you dare not use them. US still has plan to patrol near the islands at least twice every three months.
If Chinese dared to do something to push US away from those fakes island. All the countries in South East Asia will have to reconsider cooperation with US.

The massive land-constructions we currently doing is the best response. The situation will be completely changed once we have solid infrastructure facilities in the South China Sea, ports, airports, radar stations, blabla. Won't be too long, just another two or three years ahead of us.

You could laugh now, it is your freedom. But just laugh as much as you can now, because there won't be too much time left for it.

What Japan decides to develop, Japan shall have the means and capacity to negate any regional and extra-regional threats to power projection and defense oriented exigent capabilities. Let that be known and clarified.

It illustrates the undertone , the undercurrent and discourse amongst members of the JMSDF officer and command cadre. As an ex-Officer of the JMSDF, I believe my input is not without merit and is shared with a considerable portion of the Armed Forces Command Cadre.

But Nihonjin San, doesn't Japanese people have a strong dissatisfaction against any WMD? How the people will react if Japan really goes for nuclear weapons development?

My friend, let me speak without reservations here. The problem with Japan is because of the defeatist attitude that has been forced down the proverbial mouth of Japan. This self defeating notion of Japan being the aggressor of the "past" and thus is a reason for Japan's necessity in being the docile player in international politics. I believe the social democratic institution in Japan have been set in place for too long, and had their role for too long. Nationalism is readily high in Japan, but this American-influenced notion of Japan being the 'aggressor' had led to excessive morality dialectics that had negated and inhibited Japanese nationalist sentiments from progressing naturally. I believe that once the constitution is ammended (and it will be with this coming year), the remaining restrictive clauses shall be incinerated. We are living in a paradigm shift in regards to Japanese foreign policy, my friend, we are seeing a more pro-active, militarily adventurist Japan. Lastly this recent development in North Korea will be the catalyst in new nuclear defense debate(s) in the Japanese Diet.

Well if Japan's past, starting from the 1880s up to '45 can't be described as aggressive, I ain't sure what can be.

I do agree. Japan has a moral right to protect its national interest throughout any means. But that means Japan has to renounce all the WMD ban treaty she signed and start the WMD program without getting international pressure.

This is why, my friend, KSA's nuclearization is so important right now. It will test the feasibility and implementation of this so called NPT. :)
