Driving thru a small high plateau Tajik town in westernmost China bordering 3 countries, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikstan

Driving thru a small high plateau Tajik town Tashkurgan in Xinjiang Pamir region bordering 3 countries, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Tajikstan. Tashkurgan is a small Pamir high plateau town in the westernmost tip of China, the altitude is over 3,000 meter and air is very thin, rarely anything can grow in this harsh environment and the local Tajiks traditionally were all herders.

The local Tajik herders used to live in self built mud and stone houses which may easily collapse from earthquakes which are very common in this region, Now this whole town is like a big construction site, the government built earthquake proof houses for every famiy here but only locals were given these free houses, outsiders can't enjoy this free housing policy in this region.

Now the economy had been greatly diversified in this town, tourism, manufacuring, greenhouse lab farming... but you can still see cattles roam around everywhere freely in the town. This small Tajik town is surrounded by mountain, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikstan are just on the other side of this mountain.

This town is also the eastern end of Wakhan Corridor

The Wakhan Corridor is a narrow strip of territory in Afghanistan, extending to China and separating the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region of Tajikistan from the Gilgit-Baltistan region of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. From this high mountain valley the Panj and Pamir rivers emerge and form the Amu Darya. A trade route through the valley has been used by travellers going to and from East, South and Central Asia since antiquity.

Someone should put some subtitles on the videos,
I was so very much into understanding these videos.

A small Tajik village at the foot of The Muztagata mountain

A small Tajik village at the foot of The Muztagata mountain, the name of this village means “village in the colorful clouds”. Now economy in Chinese Pamir Tajik region transformed from herding to tourism, locals income had been greatly improved, this village organizes daily activities to attract more tourists.

People of tahskurgan are like our own people..Its good to see them enjoy the development their relatives on the other side of border may not have.

In this video of Tashkurgan, it was pointed out that on the other side of this mountain is Pakistan, this mountain doesn't look very tall, I think I can easily climb over it.

Na'an bread factories set up in remote Pamir plateau villages to help local employment

Na'an bread factories are set up in remote Pamir plateau villages to help local employment. Very few employment opportunities are in small villages and towns in the middle of the Pamir mountains due to harsh environment, government set up na'an bread factories to help local employment.Na'an products made there are sold in neighboring central Asian countries.

so glad to see that every home is hanging a picture of Chairman Mao, they know who is really care for them.
and when I travelled in Sichuan, I saw Chairman Mao’ picture in Tibeten‘s home too.

Tajiks traditionally have idol worshipping culture, so do Tibetans, which we don't see in other parts of China, they believe Mao was the "red sun"
