The Egyptian foreign ministry has said it is closely watching developments in the US city of Ferguson following clashes between security forces and protesters over the murder of African American teenager Mike Brown last week.

It has called on US authorities to exercise restraint and deal with the protests in accordance with US and international standards, foreign ministry spokesperson Ambassador Badr Abdel-Atti told state news agency MENA.

Abdel-Atti said Egypt was closely following reactions to the violence, including a statement by UN General Secretary Ban-Ki Moon, who demanded self-restraint and respect for the right to free assembly and expression.

The foreign ministry hopes investigations will reveal the truth about Mike Brown's murder, Abdel-Atti added.

Egyptian authorities were widely condemned for the killing of over six hundred pro-Mohamed Morsi protesters in Cairo and Giza in August 2013.

the irony…..
eygpt killed 2000 protestors in cold blood..

Egypt/Israel/US are some of the best friends on planet. I would take this seriously if Egypt actually had any tension against Israel/US.

Kill a lot of people yourself, ask restraint towards a town police force facing violent riots.

Egypt, everybody.

You can't make this sh^t up. Al Sisi is losing it, btw what kind of name is " Sisi" ?

Good job Egypt..................India should have done that too......

Look how U.S. tries to poke its nose into every country's internal affairs.....
Nosy US wants India to exercise restraint ahead of Hazare's fast

The world should take the cue and expose American/Western hypocrisy more and more.....
The Americans lecture the world on human rights but treat their own black population as subhumans.......

Obama is poor but he can do better then take advice from low life scum like Sisi

Egypt's generals appear to have an awfully short memory. A year after they massacred supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in the streets of Cairo, they have some advice for American authorities on how to handle the spiraling unrest in Ferguson, Missouri. In a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Egyptian government urges the United States to show "respect for the right of assembly and peaceful expression of opinion."

A Ferguson police officer's killing of an unarmed black teenager has sparked days of intensifying violence there, and a heavy-handed police response to ensuing protests has resulted in widespread international outrage. But the comments from the Egyptian government are depressingly hypocritical. A year ago, during the hot months of July and August, the military government in Egypt attempted to clear the streets of Cairo in a bloody crackdown. More than 1,000 people died during the ensuing crackdown, which came to embody the extreme, violent lengths to which the Egyptian military would go to hold on to power and keep the Muslim Brotherhood out of office.

The notion that Egypt's government would have any constructive advice to offer on humane policing tactics is a dark, cruel joke.

I like this statement. Recently US has also issue a similar statement with regards to protests in islamabad, I think pakistan government should also follow the egyptian policy here and make a counter statement about this riot like situation in Missouri USA.

Yes even in this thread too people are behaving like US cannot do anything wrong as if only angels are living there, it feels like there is some kind of superiority complex in US and people outside US who rate them at their god which includes some pakistanis too even on this thread.
