During the signing of the deal for the T-90 MS with Russia,, there was talk about Russia providing the technology of Arena-M APS to Egypt.. but now for 3 years or so we heard about Egypt developing its own APS system..

The Arena-M APS active protection system was developed by Russia to protect armored vehicles from armor-piercing guided missiles and missiles.

The system targets the attacking warheads at a glance with a defensive projectile. Where it uses millimetric Doppler radar to detect missiles coming towards the armored vehicle. It has a protection range of 300 degrees around the vehicle.

The system consists of a jammer, a laser alarm and a smoke screen. The system is activated when the laser alarm is triggered. The storage system can accommodate about 26 anti-aircraft missiles in standby mode.

The reaction time from the moment of warning to the moment of launch is 0.05 and the interception takes place in a fraction of a second from a distance of 10 meters to 20 meters. The system can intercept all missiles and missiles flying at a speed of 70 to 700 meters per second.

The system is also equipped with a mechanism to detect false targets such as birds and low-caliber bullets and operates both day and night.

The system has a weight of 1100 kg and can handle missiles coming from above. The Arena system increases the chance of armor survivability by 80%.

The price of one system reaches 300 thousand dollars.

The Arena-M APS active protection system on the T-72B3M was able to successfully intercept an RPG-7 anti-tank missile.

Hope Egypt will also develop a system to counter the APFSDS (Armour-piercing fin-stabilized discarding sabot long dart penetrator) or simply dart ammunition..

This rocket is supposed to reach 120km altitude, it is going to be a great development towards a satellite launch vehicle.

I think this is just a scale model it is way too small to reach 120km but the image quality sucks as it a screenshot of something.

Can't 100% confirm when this was made and any other info so we may have to wait until EDEX to find out more.

Found some more info, seems this is the third installment of the Kemet rocket series

Wonder what kind of phased array radar we will see from Egypt at EDEX and its operating band.

Hope its like AN/SPY-1 and not AN/SPS-48.


If it is like the SPY-1 it wont take super long to adapt it to launching missiles with the addition of 4 or 5 X band tracking radars for terminal guidance.

It could also use the ESR-32A as an early warning radar supplementing it and have a complete air defense and radar system patched together.

That's a great place to display those two historic vessels. A lot of instances in military history where it has taken just a single or a few individuals to either turn the tide of a war by a single act or to cause a major blow to the enemy and this was certainly the case to the latter with this epic -- and not so easy -- take-down of the Eilat.
