Fasting hours around the world in Ramazan 2018
By Web Desk On May 17, 2018
Ramazan – the Holy month of Muslims has begun and many countries are set to fast with shorter hours while some with longest hours than the past year.

The commencement of Ramazan is determined by the lunar cycle every year and its timing shifts in relation to the Western calendar worldwide each year. For the aforementioned reason, Muslims is some parts of the world face the longest fasting hours while others face the shortest ones.

As usual, Muslims in Iceland are looking at the longest fasting days at 20 fasting hours, while those in Argentina are set for a shorter fast at 11 hours.

Fasting is compulsory for any sane and healthy Muslim who is not pregnant or travelling. Those who fast are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke, or have sex from sunrise to sunset during the month.

In recent years, Ramadan has moved increasingly into the summer months which bring long days in the northern hemisphere and sweltering heat for many countries. Conversely, Ramazan has fallen on the shortest, winter days in the southern hemisphere.

Its around 18 hours in the UK which depending on your daily routine is a good amount of time to gain the benefits of fasting.

İt's around 13 hours and 40 mins in most parts of peninsular Malaysia.

Thats real interesting and shows the length of day in effect by lattitude (and it being summer in northern hemisphere).

That's true... length does matter but not as much as the temperature and humidity. Here it is perfect summer but still the temperature maxes out at 22-23 C

mine is 20+
detsamma bror :-)

rundt en time igjen/around one hour left, or more than that

The tempreture is a bigger differentiater length doesnot matter much

What happens if a Muslim lives so far north that the sun does not set in summer time (land of the midnight sun above Arctic circle etc) and Ramzan occurs in this period? Is there some allowance in a hadith etc for this?...person has to eat at some point.

Yes Bro, in parts of East Malaysia, it's roughly 12 hours.
Do you have a room to rent for a month?
Here in my place its 20+ hours.
HAHA, a lot of places to rent and stay but the heat and humidity would make you want to fast 20+ hours. The tropical weather makes you feel suffocated unless you prefer to stay indoors 24/7.

18 hour 30 minute in UK but had good first day of fasting
Its all depend on your will. People with strong will going to fast whther its hot day or cold, long day or short etc
