FGFA vs J-XX

I am just AMAZED at many indians here, sorry no offence.

But seriously FGFA is nothing but T-50 a Russia plane. Yet indians think it is their OWN. lol

Why always do this kinda of comparssion?

Since T-50 has nothing to do with india?

I remember clearly a while ago indians are comparing SU-30MKI with
SU-30MKK and were VERY happy since their Russian made SU-30MKI is better than the Russian made SU-30MKK lol. LMFAO:rofl::rofl:

We can only compare J-xx with FGFA using PAK-FA as a bench mark for FGFA and F-22/YF-23/F 35 as benchmarks for LO airframe.

I cant tell much about the J-XX nor the FGFA. I am here only defending PAK-FA from ignorant people who are yet to see the J-XX fly and knowing nothing about PAK-FA. :china:

Asian, just be proud that you have 2 Stealth fighters coming up compared to only one from the West, instead of your VS which is not healthy..

Since the main argument is about the T-50's exposed fan blades, are radar blockers going to be effective for the T-50? The only plane that i can think of that uses em is the F-117 (but it's a bomber, no maneuvers) and the F-15 SE, which is under development. And if they do block stealth, will they affect the plane's performance/make it less effective than a plane with serpentines?

T-50's exposure seem to be much rushed, for whatever reason. I am sure the Russians know better than leaving their 5th generation fighter jet at that state. Give it a few years down the road, and they should produce a much more optimized version. Remember, there were some very big changes going from YF-22 to F-22 for Americans too.

Either way, whatever signal management modification you make to fourth generation platforms (F-15SE included), you will not get the same affects as a plane specifically designed from the ground up to be low observable. You can put as much decoration on a dog as you like, but in the end it is still a dog.

^^^ this is the actual report:

Russia to test another Sukhoi T-50 fifth-generation fighter - English pravda.ru

Russia's Sukhoi design bureau will start testing another T-50 PAK FA fifth generation fighter jet until the end of the year. Mikhail Pogosyan, the head of the bureau, told reporters on November 22 that the first plane, which is currently being tested, had performed 40 flights. The official described the tests of the new plane as successful and fast.

The maiden flight of Russia's new fighter jet, produced with the use of stealth technology, took place on January 29 in Russia's Komsomolsk-on-Amur. The serial production of the fifth-generation fighter is expected to be launched in 2015. The PAK FA jet is said to replace MiG-29 and Su-27 in Russia's Air Force. The training of crews for T-50 is to begin in 2013. T-50 is expected to overcome Western analogues in terms of the price-efficiency correlation and raise significant interest on the international market. For the time, it is only the United States that has fifth-generation fighter jets.

According to Mikhail Pogosyan, Sukhoi currently has over 100 orders for the plane from Russia's defense ministry. More orders are to be signed next year, the official said. The total number of orders for PAK FA planes may reach 150, RIA Novosti reports.

Three years ago, the Russian Federation put forward a suggestion to India to participate in the creation of PAK FA. The two sides will spend approximately 8-10 billion dollars on the project. Two versions of the new plane are to be designed - with one and two seats.

Russia is expected to finish the talks regarding India's participation in the project until the end of the current year. The fifth-generation fighter jet is to be put into service in Russia and India in 2020.

In the future, the two countries intend to sell T-50 planes to other countries. Russia and India are working on an export modification of the plane. The export version of the plane is called FGFA - Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft. Sukhoi plans to produce 100 fifth-generation aircraft a year.

A fifth generation jet fighter, it is designed to directly compete with Lockheed Martin's F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II. The PAK-FA SH121 radar complex includes three X-Band AESA radars located on the front and sides of the aircraft. These will be accompanied by L-Band radars on the wing leading edges. L-Band radars are proven to have increased effectiveness against VLO targets which are optimized only against X-Band frequencies, but their longer wavelengths reduce their resolution.

The PAK-FA will feature an IRST optical/IR search and tracking system. Sukhoi recently demonstrated cockpit mock-ups, which may relate to both Su-35 or PAK-FA, suggest two very large MFDs and a very wide HUD.

As for its drawbacks, experts point out the improper use of the stealth technology in the production of PAK FA. Choosing between maneuverability and stealth, Sukhoi chose the first quality.

Experts also say that the electronic equipment of the T-50 does not meet the requirements of a fifth-generation jet.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin observed the flight of the T-50 fighter in June of this year in the Moscow region. It was a 16th test flight of the aircraft. Putin stated after the test that the new Russian fighter will be twice as cheap as its Western analogues, whereas its performance will exceed that of its prime competitor, the F-22 of the USA.

and the FGFA is a twin seater version of the PAK-FA with Indian inputs and has not even left the design stage.

A contract for Preliminary Design of the Indo-Russian Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft was signed between Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Rosoboronexport and Sukhoi here today.
The project involves design and development of a Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft that will have advanced features such as stealth, supercruise, ultra-maneuvrability, highly integrated avionics suite, enhanced situational awareness, internal carriage of weapons and Network-Centric Warfare capabilities.
The aircraft to be jointly developed is termed Perspective Multi-role Fighter (PMF). PMF draws upon the basic structural and system design of the Russian FGFA Technology Demonstrator with modifications to meet IAF specifications which are much more stringent.
The broad scope of bilateral cooperation during the joint project covers the design & development of the PMF, its productionization and joint marketing to the third countries. Programme options include the design & development of a twin seater variant and the integration of an advanced engine with higher thrust at a later stage.
Today's contract is only the first in a series of such contracts which will cover different stages of this complex programme. The total cost including options and the value of production aircraft will make this the biggest defence programme ever in the history of India involving production of over 200-250 aircraft.
The contract was signed by Mr. A Isaykin, General Director, Rosoboronexport and Mr. M Pogosyan, General Director RAC MiG & Sukhoi from the Russian side and Mr. Ashok Nayak, Chairman, HAL and Mr. NC Agarwal, Director (D&D), HAL from the Indian side at Delhi.

$ 295 million is earmarked just for the design of this aircraft. And I see your burning just because you cant lay your hands on the tech.

And you better stop twisting facts to show you in limelight...wont work with many of them.

Dear Aerospace Engineer,

Ignorance is not a crime, but spreading it is surly a one. I congratulate China and her scientist for J20. Regarding PAK FA or FGFA or T 50 whatever you call it, has same platform. You might dont know that India Shares abot 8 to 10 bn $ investment on this project. Also the experience of Composites and Avionics is been incarporated from Indian side. MIssion computer and few others are also from Indian side. Then cant you conclude wid your wise wisdome that India is a partner in this program ???? regarding S shaped intakes YF23 widow was considered more stealthier than F22 and it has air intake which has exposed fanblades. You can debate whether there is any layer which wud deflect or absorb radar waves, that has to confirmed by sukhoi. and they are not so stupid to develop a 5g bird which wud give a flashlight on radar due to exposed fanblades.

its true..people say FGFA is only a double seated but its not ist as same as T50... but its made in india and it will hav few modifications according to indian requrmnt...:agree:

Indian version will have some fairly major differrences to russian version.

Firstly indian FGFA will be able to use western weapons especially the meterore BVR ramjet BVR missle & the indian ASTRA bvr missle AS WELL as all russian fifth generation weapons.

I also believe some the TOT from MMRCA may well find its way into FGFA in the future as well.

Finally the roles are different india WANTS FGFA to be multi role equally good at strike & air combat WHERE AS russia is loooking air dominance first.

Either way FGFA will be an amazing plane and will give IAF the best air force in ASIA by 2020
