Gen Raheel says he is being singled out

It is because Sir you supported corrupt & treacherous DEMOCRAZY & nothing, absolutely nothing good can be expected from the traitors & protectors of DEMOCRAZY. Worse than that you handed over the command to Gen. Bajwa who is ineffective & so far worthless.

No one should feel offended by my thoughts because it is a point of view of a concerned Pakistani.

The pathetic political elite and their paid media goons are not only the enemy of the state, but also enemies of whoever has done anything for Pakistan.

These goons spread venom against even Quaid-e-Azam, what to talk of Gen Raheel.

Well there should be a ethical comission that reviews the "allegative" nature of the shows and determine a fine line between journalistic reporting vs allegations and other acusations.

It is quite serious that some circles of media might be stating certain stroies with some "Mich" massala and thus there should be ethical comittee that reviews such shows and programs to ensure certain , journalistic standards are maintained

Full honor should be given to progressive minds like Musharaf and Raheel Sharif , with the later being someone who enjoyed greater admiration from General public

I think in last 1-2 Years Pakistani media has become more and more , a soap opera which takes a small issue and then it inflates it to proportions of unimaginable magnitude and every person who is caught in that whril pool of Journalistic none sense , find the process extremely draining to their psychology.

We are taking about folks that served the country for 25-30 years

I think something needs to be done to protect the Service men , and courts. And also positions like head of state

  • A real story is credible , backed by evidence , which can stand in courts , and if not then the person accused has the right to sue the show and the reporter 100%

Also the second aspect that really needs to be promoted are the good aspect of society as well , the media is preoccupied with "sensationalization" all the time. Never reporting the MIllion good things happening daily across the cities

Despite serving the country with the best of his abilities and leading a war against cold blooded terrorists, General (retd) Raheel Sharif, the former army chief, feels not only dejected but also stabbed in the back due to frivolous, uncalled for and groundless media campaign targeting his integrity.

While the former army chief faces a two-year legal bar on his interaction with media, his close aides see a “pattern” in the mudslinging drive against the most popular army chief through electronic, print and social media.

The allegations of precious land transferred to Gen Raheel Sharif look over-stretched, exaggerated and out of proportion and investigations made into the allotted land have revealed that the land was actually alongside Pakistan-India working boundary where neither water scarcity allowed cultivation nor any building construction could be made due to bordering areas.

While the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) chose not to answer several questions raised about the veracity of allegations being levelled over the allocated land to the outgoing army chief, background interactions made with close aides of Gen Raheel Sharif have revealed that the media reports carried ‘signature allegations’ made with ‘political intent’.

“Perhaps, there is a planned vicious campaign against the former army chief. This pattern is vicious in nature. Perhaps some people want to hurt the popularity of General Raheel,” said a close aide of the former army chief.

Quoting Gen Raheel Sharif, his aide said that the army chief never took advantage of his position ever in his entire service.

“Neither I influenced anyone for allocation of land nor there is any illegality committed in the land allocation. I wonder why I was singled out while the land was also allocated to eleven of my peers the same day,” a close aide of Gen Raheel Sharif quoted him as saying.

The aide quoted the former army chief as saying that all procedure had been followed per law and there was no favour involved from any quarter.

“The matter of fact is that the land allocated to my name is scattered into four mauzas (villages) and this is not near Bedian, as is being alleged. This land is within two kilometers along the working boundary where neither an electric poll can be installed nor any building can be constructed. Under the law, armed forces many takeover such lands anytime in case of any border skirmishes or any unprovoked firing from across the border,” the aide of former army chief said.

The aide further said that the land also could not be cultivated due to no canal water being available for the land as the nearby BRB Canal is not meant to provide water to the upper channel lands.

“The BRB Canal only provides water for lands in interior Punjab and not for upper channel lands across the bordering areas,” the aide said.

The aide said that there was no truth in allegations that the canal water would be available for land allocated to Gen Raheel Sharif, saying that such agricultural lands are only cultivated through tubewell water or ponds.

He said out of the land allotted to Gen Raheel Sharif, 20 acres of land falls in the waterlogged areas, which is of no use.

“Moreover, the land is also not in one place and rather the same is divided into many parts. The rate of tenancy of land allocated to Raheel Sharif is very low,” the aide said.

When contacted, defence analyst, Lt General (retd) Amjad Shoaib, confirmed to Pakistan Today that the army used to allocate lands to serving army officers and jawans from lands available alongside the bordering areas.

“These lands are vacant due to border skirmishes. Hence, these lands are neither for cultivation nor are meant for construction of any housing purposes. But the provincial governments don’t want to abandon these lands as in such cases, they are misused by criminals, thugs and smugglers. Hence, such lands are handed down to General Headquarters for allocation of lands to retired army jawans, officers and families of martyrs,” he added.

Gen Amjad added that the GHQ then distributes such lands between army, air force and navy.

“Out of the chunk for the army, the land is allocated to serving army officers, jawans and martyrs families. There are points for each officer for gallantry services and awards won during service. For instance, there are numbers for Hilal-e-Imtiaz, Nishan-e-Imtiaz, etc,” he added.

He laughed off the allegations levelled against Raheel Sharif and said that these lands can’t be cultivated on a permanent basis as army may takeover such lands in case of border disputes or any border skirmishes.

“Since the working boundary alongside Kashmir is a permanent place for skirmishes between Pakistan and India, such a land would never be sold or bought for good price. Neither anyone can use such lands for housing or any other permanent business. You can’t even have electricity over there due to border situation,” he added.

He said that even the army doesn’t allow tree cutting at such lands as in case of firing or shelling from across the border, the army uses trees as shields.

“Moreover, ditches are also used by soldiers as shelters. Hence, nobody can use such lands for any peaceful profitable business,” he asserted.

Asked whether such lands are allocated to officers and jawans under the law, Gen Amjad Shoaib responded in affirmative.

“These lands are allocated to armymen under Article 268 of the Constitution. The provincial government provides such lands to the military headquarters which then divides the same between army, navy and air force. Each department then prepares lists of its officers, jawans and martyrs and then available land is allocated per criteria set by the GHQ,” he added.

Asked about the criteria, Gen Amjad said that out of army’s share, 60 percent available land is allotted to army jawans while 40 percent goes to officers.

“Out of the above mentioned shares, 15 percent land is allocated to retired officers who face financial hardships and who apply for agriculture lands while five percent share is allotted to the widows of martyrs,” he said.

He said under the laid down procedures in the army, 40 acres of land is allotted to lieutenant general while another 50 acres is allocated to the army chief. He added that out of officers’ share, 35 percent land is distributed among major-generals, 30 percent to brigadiers and etc.

“Raheel Sharif was also allotted land under the prescribed rules and regulations. He was not given any favour,” he added.

Conspiracy against army goes unabated

He said that it seems that the news spread about General Raheel Sharif looked to be a part of a well thought out plan to defame the army.

“It looks to be a part of an ongoing campaign by the federal and provincial governments to bring a bad name to the institution of the army. It is not against General Raheel Sharif. I see it as a part of a conspiracy. Then misleading stories were circulated about Raheel Sharif’s alleged appointment as commander of the Islamic countries’ alliance. Even while Gen Raheel was in office, baseless stories about his extension were leaked to media by officials in the government,” the former army officer maintained.

Asked how he could hurl allegations against the government, Gen Amjad Shoaib said that the calculated leak about the land allotment was viciously misleading in nature.

“You know, 11 other armymen were also allotted lands the same day Gen Raheel Sharif was allotted the land. It’s strange only Raheel Sharif has been pointed out,” he argued.

Hi,

General Raheel deserves every bit of humiliation and degradation---he called it upon himself---he asked for it and got it with both the barrells.

He would have been the biggest idiot for not knowing in advance what was coming----.

He had the opportunity to fix the problem----Allah gave him all the chances to take care of the problem---but he shirked his calling---and Allah does not like that.

Allah put him in a position of power to do something for the poor and the weak of pakistan----and General Raheel just tried to save his ar-se and made himself look good---.

He should have kicked Nawaz out and held elections.

If he couldn't understand the nature of shareefs, so now he will face the music.

The real Puppet masters are not

Nawaz Sharif
or General Raheel Sharif

You may notice they are both facing some form of distraction , in their lives due to Media/Courts or discussions.
This whole story started after Pakistan accepted the invitation to attend the OIC based military training in Saudi Arabia

After which these Panama Papers came, and the the continued distraction we hear about every few weeks or months and the main goal from these distration is generally to divert attention of the leadership from big goals and objectives and keep the folks distracted.

Raheel Sharif has retired but the distrations have statred to follow him into his retirement since the news emerged about him joining the OIC based joint force, and same with Nawaz Sharif the daily headlines and stories about Panama papers etc

For Raheel sharif , the people / media groups writing fake news about him should be investigated. For Nawaz Sharif the courts should quickly apply a fine , and pass that for his family to pay to Government of Pakistan to close the issue

Jab OIC ki military training main jane ka illan howa , to Panama or stories to media ne nikalni thai , god knows who is financing these

I really hope the media adapts a proper tone with respect to General Raheel Sharif , and for Nawaz sharif , we know there are some family personal matters disclosed , and most that courts can do is apply a fine against his children

Main kehta hoon,

Let the media person or news editor go take a pistol and go patrol Afghanistan border just 1 night and if you can do that with out wetting your pants , then you can criticize someone clean as General Raheel Sharif

There are Million Hamdi mirs (Media person) but only 1 General Raheel Sharif as he is known to his troops or collegues or people he protected

Such lands have been allocated to all the generals for decades, even low level officers get them if they get some specific medals. Even met a few JCO rank guys who got such lands. Airforce and navy both get them. Not a big deal and such lands are not much worth also as many are far away and have problems with respect to cultivation.

Had the general been hungry, he would have gotten prime lands in DHA and no one would have known about it.

This agri land is in Punjab and the Patwaris of Punjab are under PML-N and the ex-chief had given danda to PML-N through his tenure, thus its now payback time for them. When he was in uniform they couldn't do anything, but now they got their chance to take revenge.

it has been tried thousand times before and leads no where......... I personally am fully opposed to any military intervention at this point

as for allegations, there may be people who are worried about general being scooped up by Saudis......

you don't want to starve your generals ,,, so they start doing corruption

The Elections are next year. That's how long it took for imran khan time to come. Now what if Raheel Shrief had thrown Nawaz out and pmln still won the aftermath election? How damaging would that have been to Pakistan, it's civil and military entanglement and not to mention the laughing stock we'd become once again.

You cannot trust anyone in Pakistan. Nawaz Sharif's attorneys seeking immunity, Rahil Sharif hiding behind rules and procedures. What was the moral justification to get these lands?

This is what a retired Army Chief gets not telling this is news is dishonest which Geo Dogs are busy doing

If you have no idea how rules and what benefits are allocated, then kindly don't make statements about moral justifications.

He was the same guy who gave away his prime plots to army welfare fund for the martyrs.
