It is not only Google, but also Facebook, Tagged, MySpace, MyYearBook etc. All of them take your passwords to use them for their likes.
My advise... Never put the same password in these sites that you use for your emails. I can guarantee you, they will be used very much against your likeness. Smell the smoke - right when you begin to see ads that are related to your normal browsing. For ex: If you watch ****, you will get ads about Cialis and Viagra in your mail, even if you are a girl (That means your email's password is compromised). If you read school stuff, your email will get ads about tutors.
You can even try this out:- Create an email ID. Put a distinct password. Register with facebook with the same Email, and use the same password as facebook's password. Within a couple of days they will have tried your facebook password in your email ID and then they will begin to send ads to 'add someone' who has emailed you in that email ID of yours. I have tried and tested this practice of theirs, that goes completely against their 'stated' policies. Next step: Save the proof, sue them, get rich (That is, if you have time and if you care).
